“Which was my goal, so he could see what addiction is really like,” he noted.
Although, after they got home, and he told Gavin’s mom about what he had done, she was quite upset with him. In fact, she claimed that he put their son at risk by bringing him into that kind of environment.
But, to be frank, he honestly thought it was really important for Gavin to get out into the real world and see what he had gone through as an addict– moreover, for his son to realize what could happen if he did not “clean his act up” in the future.
Despite his own perspective on the situation, though, Gavin’s mom being upset about the whole thing has also started to make him question his judgment.
So now, he has been left wondering if taking his teenage son out into the streets to teach him a lesson about addiction was the right thing to do or if it was irresponsible of him as a parent.
Do you agree that teaching his son a lesson about the consequences of drug use was necessary? Was taking Gavin to the streets and interacting with current addicts a smart way to do it? Does his wife have a right to be upset about his decision? If you had been in his shoes, would you have done the same thing?
