She Didn’t Let Her Brother’s Girlfriend Sit With The Bridal Party At Her Wedding Because She Wanted Candid Photos Of The Group, And Her Brother Freaked Out On Her

This woman had been planning her wedding for nearly two years, and just last week, she finally got to tie the knot.
But, with so much planning, she understandably wanted the wedding to get perfectly. So, she arranged to have some of her favorite people by her side on her big day. Her brother was her husband’s best man, and her sisters were her bridesmaids.
Her brother’s girlfriend was also in attendance, but she claims that the girlfriend never really warmed up to her.
“And frankly, it seems like she does not like me,” she revealed.
Nonetheless, she invited her brother’s girlfriend as a guest out of courtesy, and everything had been going fine. Well, that was until after the ceremony when it was time for everyone to take their seats.
She specifically wanted her maid of honor, the bridesmaids, the best man, and the groomsmen to be seated with her and her husband– at least until all of the photographers were done catching some candid shots of the bridal party.
As they went to sit down, though, she noticed that her brother had gone to pull up an extra chair for his girlfriend. And honestly, she asked her brother to stop.
First, she said that they needed all of the dress and suit colors to match in the photos. She also pointed out how the numbers needed to be kept even for the photo composition.
Regardless, though, her brother’s girlfriend looked immediately offended. So, she quickly reassured both her brother and his girlfriend that the pictures would just take a few minutes.
Afterward, she said the girlfriend could rejoin the table. But, for the time being, her brother’s girlfriend needed to stay out of the shots.
Anyway, her brother decided to talk to his partner at that point. Then, his girlfriend walked away and sat down at one of the back tables.
Now, she claims that his girlfriend did not need to go so far away; instead, the girlfriend could have just waited nearby or sat closer.
Despite that, though, she noticed that her brother looked really irritated about the whole thing. And honestly, that made her irritated since she did not want him to look unhappy in the pictures.
So, she ended up asking her brother if he could “at least pretend to look happy,” and that comment actually made him blow up on her.
Apparently, her brother “went off” about how his girlfriend was shy and already felt unwelcome in their family. Plus, she got accused of making the day really difficult for his girlfriend.
Quite frankly, though, she thought it seemed like her brother’s girlfriend did not even want to be at the wedding, and she told him that.
“She doesn’t seem like she wants to be part of this family at all,” she explained.
“And quite frankly, I didn’t want her unhappy expression to be permanently displayed in pictures of what was supposed to be a happy occasion.”
Still, her brother apparently did not care and eventually stormed off to go sit with his girlfriend. This made her even more upset, too.
After all, this was supposed to be her day, but it felt like it was becoming about her brother’s girlfriend. Plus, because he chose to storm off, the seating arrangement at the table ended up being uneven in the pictures anyway.
Thankfully, though, the rest of her day did go well. The only remaining problem, however, is that her brother is still refusing to talk to her.
She has since apologized and even offered to apologize to his girlfriend. But, even after that, her brother has continued to give her the cold shoulder.
The rest of her friends and family who were at the table have also admitted that the whole incident was pretty awkward. But, they refuse to give their input because they do not want to pick sides.
“Some things I said out of anger,” she admitted, “But also, I feel like I should have been granted some respect, and they should know how important it was to me since they knew I had been planning this day for so long.”
Nonetheless, with her brother still really angry, she has been left wondering if refusing to let her brother’s girlfriend sit with the bridal party at the wedding actually made her a jerk or not.
Is it common for brides and grooms to have a “head table” with a set seating chart? Do you think her brother should have asked before trying to pull up a chair and messing with the arrangements? Did she have a right to ask her brother’s girlfriend to step aside for just a few minutes? What would you have done in this situation?
