This woman and her husband currently have a daughter, who is ten-years-old and is reportedly not really a picky eater. However, there is one thing her daughter absolutely despises– mushrooms.

Her daughter hates everything about the fungus– from the taste and texture to even just the smell. So, her child just cannot stand to be around them. And recently, this became a major issue at home.

Apparently, her mother-in-law lives with her family and helps out her and her husband by watching her daughter after school.

Her mother-in-law also loves to cook– so sometimes, she will cook dinner for her daughter whenever she and her husband are working late.

Now, this has become a pretty common occurrence since both she and her husband work in the medical field.

This means that they are often working “crazy” and “unpredictable” schedules– leaving their daughter home with her mother-in-law.

Just a couple of nights ago, though, she and her husband both had the evening off from work. So, they decided to cook dinner together; meanwhile, her mother-in-law went out to dinner with a friend.

And during that time, her daughter, named Susie, actually approached her and her husband in tears. Then, Susie revealed how she was “sick and tired of being starved” every night and asked if she could make her daughter’s dinner instead of her mother-in-law.

It later came out that every single dish her mother-in-law has cooked for Susie has used mushrooms as a main component.

The meals have included portobello mushroom burgers, mushroom risotto, mushroom pasta, and the list goes on.

She also claims that Susie’s hatred of mushrooms is very public knowledge and revealed that her mother-in-law never dares to make those dishes whenever she or her husband are around.

But, when Susie is alone with her mother-in-law, her daughter is forced to eat them.

On top of that, she found out that even if her daughter tries to politely refuse the dinners, her mother-in-law will tell Susie things like, “Suit yourself, but you’re not getting any other food the rest of the night,” or “you have to outgrow this stupid mushroom hatred.”

So, she and her husband have, understandably, been really upset. After all, their daughter has been going to bed hungry every single night because her mother-in-law is refusing to let Susie eat anything she actually likes.

Anyway, they ended up waiting for her mother-in-law to get back from her dinner with a friend. Then, she and her husband confronted her about the whole situation.

Shockingly, though, her mother-in-law just kept defending her actions– claiming that Susie needed to grow up and get over it.

Then, even when she accused her mother-in-law of essentially starving her daughter, her mother-in-law just disagreed and claimed it was an act of “tough love.”

What came next, though, was the icing on the cake. Apparently, her mother-in-law proceeded to accuse her of being a terrible mom for prioritizing her career over her child and failing to help Susie get over her dislike of a vegetable.

So, at that point, she had enough and told her mother-in-law to get out because she refused to be disrespected like that in her own home.

And thankfully, her mother-in-law did end up leaving– but not without yelling some nasty things at her on the way out.

Now, her husband has fully taken her side and agrees that his mom was completely out of line. However, her two sisters-in-law, as well as her mother-in-law, completely disagree and have been sending her non-stop messages calling her “every name in the book.”

In turn, she has been left wondering if kicking her mother-in-law out for forcing her daughter to only eat mushrooms was the wrong way to handle the situation or not.

Is it normal for people to dislike certain foods without being labeled as “too picky?” Why do you think her mother-in-law is so dead-set on making Susie like mushrooms? If you found out your mother-in-law was sending your child to bed hungry every night over something as trivial as mushrooms, would you be pissed, too? Did she have a right to kick out her mother-in-law or not?
