Her Sister Doesn’t Want Her To Wear Makeup At Her Wedding, But She Insisted She Needed To Because Another Bridesmaid, Who Is A Burn Victim, Was Allowed

This 24-year-old woman has a sister named Enca, who is 27. And for the most part, they usually get along quite well– except for when it came to one wedding decision.

Enca got engaged to her fiancé last October, and immediately afterward, the couple began planning their wedding.

So, she was asked to be her sister’s maid of honor a long time ago. Four other women were also asked to be bridesmaids.

She claims that her sister doesn’t really have the same interests as herself and the rest of the bridal party, though. In fact, Enca wound up choosing to have an outdoor beach-type ceremony that is a bit “out there.”

“I have no problem with this, but I didn’t quite realize how primitive she wanted it to be until yesterday,” she recalled.

That day, Enca showed her five different options for the bridesmaid dresses that were ivory one-size-fits-all. Each dress had different cut-outs and sleeves, and she was given the first choice as the maid of honor.

Quite frankly, though, she felt like the style of the dresses was incredibly tacky. Plus, the one dress she liked the most didn’t even end up fitting her comfortably. Still, she didn’t want to spoil her sister’s moment.

She also provided a bit of context and detailed how, in general, her sister is wildly unprepared for the wedding. Back in November, she told Enca to buy the bridesmaid dresses. But her sister didn’t listen to her.

Enca’s wedding dress is non-traditional as well since her sister will be wearing a handmade navy blue satin gown that was tailored by her fiancé’s mother.

“It actually looks fine,” she admitted.

“But I addressed my concern that she wouldn’t stand out as the bride in it. And here is where the train switches tracks and plummets down the grand canyon.”

After she said that, her sister admitted to realizing the same thing. Then, Enca revealed how she had come up with a questionable plan to take care of that concern.

Apparently, Enca wanted to have no one in the wedding party wear any makeup. Instead, the bridesmaids would just be wearing beachy waves and a spray tan. Her sister, on the other hand, would be wearing “full glam” with an updo in order to stand out.

Now, she was completely taken aback by her sister’s idea because she is not at all comfortable even just going out in public without makeup on. So, the thought of attending her sister’s wedding without having at least some mascara and concealer on was terrifying.

On top of that, she also has a chronic skin condition– the same one that her sister Enca has.

So she wound up telling Enca that would just not be fair, especially because their cousin Alicia– who is a bridesmaid– is a burn survivor. And Alicia always wears makeup on her face and arms.

At that point, her sister claimed she would allow Alicia to wear makeup regardless of what the rest of the bridal party was doing. That ultimately caused her to bring back up the topic of whether Alicia would outshine Enca, though, and Enca said something incredibly rude.

“There’s no way she would overshadow me,” her sister said about Alicia.

She actually didn’t address that comment, though, and went back to worrying about her own makeup. And she ultimately begged Enca to allow her to wear makeup, too.

Her sister stood her ground, though, and flat-out said no. Then, Enca even suggested that she should just be grateful she is in her sister’s wedding because “there’s no telling when or if she would ever have her own.” Yikes!

She did not stop arguing about the makeup, though, trying to tell her sister how uncomfortable she would feel without anything on.

But, Enca just refused to hear her out and told her to suck it up. And she thinks that is just ridiculous.

“My insecurities are just as valid as Alicia’s, if not more, because I am literally the bride’s sister, and I should be allowed to look presentable,” she vented.

Still, with her sister refusing to budge, she has been left wondering if it was wrong to insist that Enca allow her to wear makeup at the wedding because their cousin– who is a burn victim– is allowed to.

Does she have a right to want to wear makeup at her sister’s wedding? Even so, should she have compared herself to her cousin Alicia? If you were in her shoes, how would you handle this situation? Would you attend the wedding?
