Don’t Wear White
This faux pa is infamous for a good reason! Even if you think the bride would be totally cool if you wore a white outfit, just pick a different one to be on the safe side.
A lot of people look at wearing white to a wedding as disrespectful to the bride and may think you’re full of yourself and are trying to one-up the bride on her special day. Luckily, all of that can be avoided by simply choosing to wear a different color for the day!
Don’t Ignore The Dress Code
Similarly, it’s important to know the dress code of the wedding you’re going to attend so that you can get some ideas about what you’re going to wear. Usually, dress codes will be listed on the invitation you receive, and if there’s any confusion between the different levels of attire, the internet will surely help!
If there’s still some confusion, or you’re stuck between a couple of outfit choices, don’t be afraid to ask someone in the wedding party questions about attire. It’s better to be sure that your outfit will respect the dress code than to show up realizing you got it wrong!
Don’t Be Late
This one goes without saying, but it’s super important to show up on time to a wedding ceremony. Of course, life happens, and sometimes we can’t help but show up late to things, even if they are important things. However, do your best to plan your day so that you will get there early to give yourself some wiggle room in case something doesn’t go according to plan.
If you do end up showing up late, either wait outside until the ceremony is over or quietly take a seat in the back of the room. Obviously, this all depends on the venue and your best judgment, but try not to cause a scene with your late arrival.
At the end of the day, if you’re invited to a wedding, it’s because the couple wants you to be there to help celebrate their special today. Chances are, little human errors of yours aren’t going to upset them or cause any large bouts of drama. However, out of respect for the couple, it’s important to try to be on your best behavior and avoid these wedding guest mistakes.
