In 2009, 21-year-old Morgan and 24-year-old Rodney Metzer got married and had twins, looking for all the world like the perfect family.
They met when she was 14, and he was 17. But their life was much different when away from the eyes of the public. After enduring 11 years of physical and mental abuse, Morgan divorced Rodney in December 2020.
A few weeks later, a masked intruder with a gun beat and assaulted her in her home in Canton, Georgia, just after midnight on New Year's Day.
Her attacker left her tied up on the back deck. Rodney came to save her, but she quickly realized that he was the one who had attacked her.
According to Morgan, the beginning of their relationship was blissful, but they fell on hard times. Eight months after getting married, Rodney's younger brother died of leukemia.
He was only 19 years old. Then, Morgan and Rodney had their first child together, naming him after Rodney's brother. However, he was born with a congenital heart defect and died at just 18 days old.
In 2012, Morgan gave birth to healthy twins, one boy and one girl. She noticed Rodney's behavior started to change after the twins turned one. It was also around the time he lost his job. Meanwhile, Morgan's interior design business was thriving.
The first time Rodney ever hit her was on Labor Day weekend. They had gotten into an argument one night, and he proceeded to beat her.
She called her dad to pick her up. Rodney convinced her family that the bruises on her body were from him trying to restrain her when she lost her temper.

Throughout their marriage, he accused and blamed her for everything that went wrong. She filed for divorce in 2020, and it was finalized that December.
Shortly afterward, Rodney called her, saying that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He showed her papers from a doctor. He hadn't told anyone else. She let him stay at her house and tried to be supportive of him.
However, she didn't want to get back together, even when he begged her to. She urged him to tell his family about the diagnosis, but he refused.
Finally, by New Year's Eve 2020, she was fed up and asked him to leave. She lied and told him that she would be staying at her parents' house that night.
Rodney left, but he kept texting her, asking her to take him back. She went to sleep on New Year's Eve 2020 and woke up around 1 a.m. to find a masked intruder in her home.
He was holding a gun and was trying to make his voice sound like Batman.
He pinned her down, beat her with the gun, and attempted to strangle her twice. Once she fell unconscious, he zip-tied her hands behind her back and assaulted her.
Then, he put a pillowcase over her head, took her cell phone, and left her on the back deck. He instructed her not to move until she heard a car horn honk twice.
She never ended up hearing the two honks, so she was afraid to move. About 40 minutes later, Rodney showed up, ran over, and asked what had happened. He freed her, called 911, and comforted her until the police arrived.
He told the police that he had heard someone tap on his apartment window and yell Morgan's name, prompting him to go check on her.
After going through his cell phone, they found photos of Morgan in the shower that he had taken without her knowledge. He was also copying her text messages. He was arrested that day for lying to investigators.
They searched his car and apartment and discovered evidence connecting him to the attack. Authorities believed that his motive behind the attack was to win Morgan back.
In the end, Rodney pleaded guilty to 14 counts. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison and 45 years of probation on August 4, 2021.
