Watching a best friend make a massive mistake is one of the loneliest positions you can be in. You want to be the supportive person who cheers for their happiness, but at the same time, you can't sit there and be an accomplice to a disaster.
What would you do if your best friend was all excited to move a former felon in with her and her children, and she was ignoring every single red flag about the man?
This 30-year-old woman has a best friend the same age as her who's a mom to two little kids. They've been besties since they were only 16, and of course, she only wants what's best for her, given their special bond.
Recently, her best friend met a guy on TikTok and began dating him, even though he lives in another state. Her best friend says they have been speaking for a whole year, but only met up in real life last weekend.
"Despite that, she’s already considering having him move here and live with her and the kids. She doesn’t currently have much income, so she would likely be financially dependent on him if that happened," she explained.
"Early on, when I asked about him, she refused to tell me his real name and would only refer to him by a stage name because he’s apparently in some kind of band. Every time I asked his real name, she deflected back to the stage name."
"Let me make something clear, the ONLY time this friend has EVER kept anything from me is when she knows she’s wrong and is avoiding getting called out for it."
Her best friend hasn't shared a whole lot of information with her about her new beau, but the things she has mentioned have been massive red flags, in her opinion.
Some of the things she finds the most worrisome about this mystery man? Well, he says he's a paramedic in New Mexico and is constantly going on calls, but that's a lie.

He has six children from two baby mamas, and his kids are 9 months old through 15 years old. He doesn't talk to any of them as he has branded his exes as insane.
Her best friend has only met him one time, yet they're jumping into conversations about tying the knot and moving in with one another.
She went through his social media and came across this guy's legal name, so she did a little detective work on her own to find out more about her best friend's shady boyfriend.
She was able to obtain public court documents proving this guy had a charge of first-degree murder, and he apparently shot someone during a fight and got a plea deal for voluntary manslaughter.
The reports clearly indicate there were loads of witnesses who said the same thing: there wasn't a struggle, this guy just whipped out a pew pew and pulled the trigger on it. This guy was in jail from 2016 through 2024.
"I also tried verifying the paramedic claim by checking the New Mexico EMS license lookup, and could not find any license under his name," she added.
"When I brought this up to her, she said the case was self-defense and told me not to judge him for his past. I told her I wasn’t judging his past as much as I was worried about how quickly everything was moving and the things that weren’t adding up."
"She also claimed there were no witnesses, even though the reports say otherwise. The conversation got heated, and she insisted everything was fine."
She was so upset about her friend's lack of judgment and how she was ready to move her kids in with a strange man who's been lying to her, so she did something drastic.
She reached out to her best friend's sisters and baby daddies and gave them all of the information she had on her boyfriend so they could potentially step in and do something.
Her best friend is livid with her for going behind her back like that and says she betrayed her. She's aware she may have meddled too much here, but she's trying to protect her best friend's kids.
And keeping silent wouldn't have been the responsible approach in this case.
"I very much believe people can change for the better, but given her track record of awful taste in men and the fact she has two young kids she’s exposing to anyone she dates, it’s just NOT worth the risk," she continued.
"She seems determined to [mess] herself up, but I had to draw the line for the kids, even if it means losing my lifelong friend."
She's left wondering if she was wrong to tell her best friend's family about her boyfriend's past.
Well, her friendship is definitely going to be permanently and negatively impacted by warning her best friend's family about this shady former felon, but she did the right thing in trying to protect the innocent kids involved in this.
Her best friend is in desperate need of a reality check or a wake-up call. Now, at least her best friend's family can help do something to make this all right or save her from herself and her poor choices.
