There’s quite a difference between acknowledging that beautiful people exist out there in the world and hearing your own spouse confirm that you’re not at the top of their attraction list.
When your partner’s dose of harsh reality completely dismantles your confidence, can any amount of reassurance ever make you feel like the prize again?
This 29-year-old woman has a 30-year-old husband, and they tied the knot several years ago. Their marriage has had highs and lows, but not too long ago, her husband told her something that’s now living rent-free in her head.
Apparently, he finds other women more attractive than her. One evening, they were chatting about how it’s not unusual to be drawn to the looks of others.
“I agree with that, we’re all human, and it’s just how it works. It’s okay to notice that people are attractive without necessarily wanting to be with that person,” she explained.
“But I truly find my husband to be the most attractive. He doesn’t understand or believe me when I tell him that; he just asks, ‘Do you really think I’m the hottest guy in the world?’ For me, he’s the most attractive to me because I’m in love with him, and he’s my husband.”
“Despite flaws, I am still head over heels for him. I obviously know I am not the most attractive person by any means, but it hurts to hear him say that he finds others more attractive than me.”
It was not fun for her to find out that her husband finds other women hotter than her, and she was too scared to ask him to elaborate on whether they’re girls they know or celebrities.
Her husband tried to make her feel better by stating that he is not interested in being with another woman, only her, but her self-esteem has already been crushed, and it’s too late.

She’s so deeply hurt by her husband’s confession that she’s curious whether it’s normal and whether she’s entitled to be so upset.
Boy, her husband really should have learned that some things are better kept to yourself and not shared with other people around you, but it’s too late for that.
I would be heartbroken to have a declaration like this come out of my spouse’s mouth. Her husband is a real jerk, and I’m not really sure how she can bounce back from what he said to her.
I truly don’t think it’s possible for her to go back to looking at him in the same way when he said something so cruel. He should have kept his mouth shut, and I’m angry that he didn’t.
