The BlackBerry PlayBook is getting the laptop-tablet hybrid treatment. Interestingly, the keyboard case isn’t coming from a third party, but from Research in Motion itself.  We are certainly no strangers to keyboard/case hybrids, having reviewed several dozen of them over time.  It’s just too bad, that once again it took RIM so long to debut it for the PlayBook.

The keyboard case looks designed to cater to the business crowd thanks to a sleek, black look. The back has a stand and has a hole so the camera will not be obscured. The keyboard itself also features a touchpad with multi-gesture support, and communicates with the PlayBook via Bluetooth. That connection features 128-bit encryption for added security, and RIM promises 30 days of battery life on a single charge. The keyboard case is available now from BlackBerry’s online shop for about $120.

Below, you can see the keyboard case demonstrated along with Citrix Receiver, an app that allows PlayBook owners to use Windows desktops and applications, and aids with business presentations.
