From now until May 8th, T-Mobile is offering up a pretty generous trade-in offer that will let you earn credit towards a 4G phone from the carrier. As long as your old smartphone is free of water damage (or any other obvious defect), you can earn as much as $200 toward a 4G phone as part of T-Mobile’s “Magenta Deal Days” program.
iPhones will net you $200, while Android, BlackBerry, Windows, and Symbian 9.0+ phones will get you $100. Any other phones will get you $50. That said, if your device is valued at more than what is listed, you’ll get the full value of your phone toward a 4G phone. Conversely, if your phone is valued at less than what is listed, you’ll still get the listed value, rather than the true value of your phone.
There are some restrictions. New customers are free to take advantage of the program, but current T-Mobile subscribers will not qualify unless they are eligible for an upgrade or an early upgrade (18 months through their two-year contract). Anyone who participates will need to sign a two-year contract with T-Mobile along with receiving their new device. Lastly, the trade-in program is limited to one old device per new device/contract signed.
