It’s a shame. Valentine’s Day should be the day we get to spend in stress-free bliss with our significant others. And maybe you are in a relationship like that. If so, congratulations. For everyone else, Valentine’s Day is like final exams all over again. Fortunately for you, we have a cheat sheet. And, if you just so happen to be single this year, lucky you. You can give one of these fine tech gifts to the best Valentine of all – your own self. And finally, to make this Valentine’s Day a bit sweeter, we’re giving away a Nokia Lumia 822 Windows Phone for Verizon. This smartphone is available in red, which is of-course perfect for Valentine’s Day. It’s also available for free on contract with Verizon. But you can try and win one here. So enter below to win!
Philips Original Radio
Curl up fireside with your favorite person and the classic charm of this throwback radio from Philips. Fashioned after the 1955 Philetta 254 Radio, the Original Radio summons up the atmosphere of a bygone era, without all the undesirable parts – persistent static, tinny audio, a lack of connectivity to mobile devices, the Cold War, McCarthyism, and all that. What you will get is solid audio and a dock for pre- or post-Lightning iOS devices, depending on which version of the radio you buy. This warm and cozy blast from the past will cost you about $200.
BenQ Flamenca LED Light
Well, actually going Flamenco dancing would probably be the superior Valentine’s Day gift, but maybe there’s nowhere around to go do that, or maybe you just really, really don’t like dancing. In that case, a light show will have to do. Fortunately, this one shouldn’t disappoint.
The Flamenca LED Light is an ambient light based on the form and movement of the skirt of a Flamenco dancer. The light can be kept static, but with a light touch, the light will gently move around. The Flamenca LED light comes in green, orange, and pink, and is available in select stores around the globe.
Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover
This Bluetooth Keyboard cover case for the iPad does it better than the one above in a few ways. If your partner loves that sleek Apple design aesthetic, this is the cover case to go with – it’s very thin, and made of aluminum, so it looks like it should be going with the iPad anyway. In another nice touch, the keyboard turns on and off automatically upon opening and closing the case. It can also be used as a viewing stand.
It has classic Valentine’s Day gift chops, too. The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover comes in red, and you can have a special message custom engraved just for that special someone. The keyboard cover costs $100, and there’s no extra charge for the engraving.
You buy a bunch of roses for Valentine’s Day, and what are you really giving? Someone hacked those off a bush somewhere, only to revive them for a while with a bunch of water. It’s like you’re giving a dozen zombies to your beloved, except these zombies don’t move and fall apart on their own after maybe a week.
Alright, maybe that’s going to strike some people as romantic in 2013. Others might not like getting dead things on the day of love. But flowers sure are pretty. The solution? The ever-living 8-Bit Rose, a foam tribute to the old days. Smells like nostalgia!
If you have the right partner, you’ll also get points for the piranha plant base. There’s also a pop-out stand on the back, so your sweetheart can display it in perpetuity. Who knows, play your cards right with this one, and you might get to make some extra lives with your special someone this Valentine’s Day.
Samsung Galaxy Camera
The digital camera for our times is here, and it’s reasonably close to a can’t-miss for Valentine’s Day this year. Hard to not be happy with an excellent digital camera with full-on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on the 4.8’’ HD display on the back. Thanks to Jelly Bean, the amount of editing tools available on this camera is only limited to what’s on Google Play – and that’s a big field to navigate.
4G connectivity on AT&T’s network means that photos and videos can be shared from anywhere to anyone, in just about no time at all. As it is with all cameras, you’re sure to make and preserve plenty of cherished memories with your loved one using this guy. The Samsung Galaxy Camera is available from AT&T for about $500.
Pink Motorola Droid Razr M
The notably skinny jeans-friendly Motorola Droid Razr M has just seen a small re-release, now coming in pink just in time for Valentine’s Day. The extreme thinness doesn’t mean all the good stuff was sacrificed, though – this one works with Verizon’s 4G LTE network, so you’ll be able to give your other half the gift of lightning fast Internet browsing. Which may or may not help your relationship, hard to say. It sure will help the relationship between your other half and their phone, though.
The Pink Motorola Droid Razr M is available from Verizon for $150, which gets knocked down to $100 after a mail-in rebate. As always, you’ll also need that two-year contract.
Pink Nerd Domo in Love Plush
Not that Domo needed any help being a charmer, but there’s a special Valentine’s Day edition of everyone’s favorite adorably menacing creature. Pink Nerd Domo is out to capture hearts, with a new pink makeover, plus red heart glasses. He’s even wearing his little heart on the outside, just to show he cares. How cute. And sort of disturbing. But mostly cute.
Stuffed animals are possibly the most underrated of all standard Valentine’s Day gifts. Stuffed animals with pink flair and nerd appeal? Can’t go wrong. Pink Nerd Domo is ready to warm hearts for $18 off FredFlare.com.
Posh Life Bling
Turn the volume all the way up on your partner’s phone with an unrepentantly loud (read: fabulous) phone case from Posh Life Bling. Any plain phone case can be decked out in unfathomable amounts of bling – amounts of bling fit for Khloe Kardashian and Paris Hilton, which should give you a fine idea of what to expect. Each case is a custom job, too, so you can order a phone case that fits your partner perfectly.
I say phone case, and not smartphone case, because these guys do it all – it appears that it doesn’t matter if it’s an iPhone 5 or some Symbian-running Nokia from the early naughts. Although, if your sweetheart is rocking a pre-smartphone era cell phone, perhaps a different sort of gift is in order this year. Just saying.
Trojan Pulse Intimate Massager
Who says money can’t buy happiness? Sure looks to me like it’s selling for $30, and that strikes me as a bargain.
It’s nice to see that Trojan is still coming out on top when it comes to personal pleasure, offering six scintillating modes during use. Looks like technology really does make everything better. Just a tip, though – know your audience before gifting this one. That said, I’m sure for the right person, this is a gift that will definitely hit the spot this Valentine’s Day.
iPico iPhone Projector
You can show off that ultra-romantic montage video (you know, the one you set to Eye of the Tiger) with the iPico, before handing it over as this year’s Valentine’s Day gift. The iPico is a handheld pico projector that can blow up images from an iOS device in qHD (960×540) resolution. The projector has a range of about 5.5 feet, and can blow images up to as large as 50’’.
The iPico works with a free app. From within that app, you and your sweetheart can access Facebook, a Web browser, and YouTube videos, plus your own videos and photos that you have stored on the device.
KeyFolio Pro 2 Removable Keyboard Case and Stand – Red
Make your best friend happy by giving them a new best friend for their iPad. The KeyFolio Pro 2 is a combination Bluetooth keyboard and case for the iPad, and it is pretty handy. You can detach the keyboard and just use the KeyFolio as a viewing stand, which can be adjusted anywhere between 70˚ and 20˚ using a velcro strap. Or, you can use that keyboard to, you know, actually be productive on the iPad. Was that an intended use for the iPad? I’m still not sure.
Anyway, nothing says I love you in the 21st century quite like a gift that helps someone get the most out of their beloved gadgets. The KeyFolio Pro 2 is selling now from Kensington for $65 on Amazon.
