LEGO is rolling out a blast from the past this August, with a model of the classic Mini Cooper Mk VII. Except, ‘blast from the past’ and ‘classic’ I guess are referring to roughly 1996, so some people reading right now might need to come to grips with that.
After you’ve gotten over the shock of how long ago the ’90s were, you can get pumped for this LEGO model, which looks like an intricately detailed of everyone’s favorite diminutive automobile (sorry, Smart Car). It’s 4” x 9” x 5” and made of 1,077 pieces. From the looks of it, this is no common LEGO set – there are even interior details like the gearshift and the engine to build. This is definitely in the vein of recent LEGO enthusiast sets, like the X-Wing fighter that came out a while back.
This Mini Cooper set still has that LEGO spirit of fun, though – there’s a picnic set you can build and throw in the trunk, just for kicks. And, once you’re done, you can remove the roof of the car easily to appreciate your handiwork inside the car.
The LEGO Mini Cooper will become available in August for $100.
