New York Comic Con Day One: Chevy Sonic, Bronies, and More [Photos]

It’s Chevrolet’s 3rd year as a sponsor at New York Comic Con and just like last year, they are showing off several custom wrapped cars on the show floor. This year they have partnered with a handful of comic publishers to wrap four Chevy Sonics in custom artwork. The publishers include Boom! Studios, Dark Horse Comics, image, and valiant. Notably, none of these publishers include big players like DC or Marvel.

But not only can you go to Comic Con to check out the Sonics in person, you can also enter to win one. All 125 thousand plus Comic Con attendees are eligible to stop by and enter to win one, by using the chip inside their badge. Then on Sunday; 4 finalists will be called back to the show to sit inside each car, as one lucky winner is announced at random.

But besides for the custom Chevy Sonics serving as exclusive New York Comic Con cars, Chevy’s booth also has some other fun cars on display – including one of the custom wrapped Chevy Spark’s from last year’s Comic Con, a life-size Camaro Hot Wheels edition, and a 2014 Corvette Stingray.

Also on hand at the booth is a free phone charging area that is open to the public. This is of-course, a great tip for attendees, since chances are that their battery will run out of juice from too many Instagram uploads. Speaking of which, check out our Comic Con gallery with photos from before the doors officially opened. And if it all seems crazy and fun already, imagine what it will be like there for the duration of the show!
