Pixelbook Review: Chip Chick Gets To Review Google’s New Pixelbook & Here’s The Scoop

I’m just going to be completely candid here, I have always been adamantly team Mac. When I attended design school, you weren’t even allowed to show up without one. I never thought another laptop could come close to remotely competing with my love of MacBook Pros.

Yeah, well, Google just ruined that Mac streak for me, and I should hardly be surprised. I’m a fan of pretty much everything Google has ever created, from Ads Manager, to Gmail, to their namesake search engine, and Google Drive of course forever holds a special place in my heart. So what exactly has overthrown my passion for MacBooks? The Google Pixelbook.

Modern, voguish, yet slim and light enough to slide right into your bag, the Google Pixelbook is every girl on the go’s dream.

The Droolworthy Design

The Google Pixelbook weighs in at just 2.4 pounds, sports a 12.3 inch screen, and is a super slim 0.4 inches. It’s the slimmest Pixelbook yet!

The hinge can turn 360 degrees, meaning if you don’t want to use it like a laptop, you can use it more like you would a tablet. It can fold into a tent, stand, and tablet configuration.

Don’t let the versatility and size fool you though, Google cut no corners in making the Pixelbook and there’s no doubt in my mind this can hold up to everyday wear and tear. It’s just beautifully made.

The Google Pixelbook has a brushed aluminum frame with Corning® Gorilla® Glass, which really is quite attractive and lends to the modern feel. On top of that, the palm rest is rubberized which really goes a long way in terms of keeping you comfortable through hours on hours of use.

The trackpad itself is made of glass, which did make me a bit nervous the first few times I used it, because I was concerned it might be quite delicate but it’s not in the least. Your fingers glide smoothly across the glass and it’s highly accurate and sensitive to your touch. You can also adjust the sensitivity to your preference which is appreciated!

The keyboard fully illuminates so if you have a tendency to work late at night, or in bed, you’re going to like that a lot.

The Specs

Ok, let’s getting into the specs and details you need to know about. First off, you can use all the Android apps with the Pixelbook which is pretty neat and also makes the Pixelbook feel more like a tablet in a good way (aside from the fact that you can configure it like that)! You really get the best of both worlds here, and if you pick up the stylus, called the Pixelbook Pen, you can continue to build on what the Pixelbook has to offer.

For just $99 I think it is absolutely worth the cost. It’s a small price to pay for elevating your Pixelbook experience. You can use it to draw, write, and design and it also works with Google Assistant. It’s a lot more responsive than pretty much all of the styluses I’ve used in the past. Buy it when you buy your Pixelbook. You won’t be sorry!

Speaking of Google Assistant, the Pixelbook has this feature built right in. You can activate it by saying “Ok Google”, or by pressing the designated key on the keyboard. You can control your music, your videos, and even ask questions and have them answered with Google Assistant!

Another really important feature to address is that the battery life lasts up to 10 hours. You also can get up to two hours by just charging it for 15 minutes. After routinely using the Pixelbook for our Chip Chick work days, the battery really is long lasting, and the Pixelbook is fast charging, which will mean a lot to all you other women in business who don’t have time to stop and charge every hour on the hour.

The Pixelbook also sports a 2,400 x 1,600 pixel display, a 7th Gen Intel® Core™ processor, built in virus protection, automatic software updates, a Chrome OS operating system, dual speakers, two USB-Cs to help you charge up, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Let’s talk price. The Google Pixelbook exceeds being competitively priced when stacked up against similar tech offerings; in fact, it downright puts Apple’s price tags to shame. Starting at just $999, I don’t need to say anything more!

The Bottom Line

I appreciate the attention to detail that Google put into making the Pixelbook, and it really stands out in the sea of laptop choices you can choose to purchase from these days.

This is the must have accessory to support any woman’s tech lifestyle, regardless of whether you’re browsing the web, streaming movies, or looking for a workhorse of a laptop that can travel everywhere with you. Anything you do, the Pixelbook can certainly keep up with.
