Having a side hustle is an amazing way to make money (if you do it right) and it can even lead to a full blown business that helps you leave your day job behind!
If you dream of being your own boss, making more money, starting a business; the side hustle is for you. Here are some of my quick tips for making your side hustle evolve into something successful.
Do It Debt Free
They do say you need to spend money to make money, but in regards to a side hustle you want to do it debt free. Maybe this means stripping your side hustle idea down to something you can run lean, that doesn’t require a lot (or ideally, any) startup costs. Maybe this means you save up the money you need to launch your side hustle.
Do What Makes You Money
Hitting the ground working is the fastest way to make sure your side hustle generates revenue. So, do what makes you money!
Don’t waste your time on crazy branding. Don’t waste six months building a website before launch. Don’t get bogged down crafting some crazy mission statement.
It’s easy to get side tracked, excited, involved to the point where most of your time is spent on details and not actually doing the work that contributes to your bottom line.
Manage & Make Your Time
Don’t underestimate managing your time and making the time for your side hustle. You definitely have to commit consistently to putting in the work, and it can be easier said than done.
Start by blocking out a certain amount of time every week (or night) where you sit down, eliminate distractions, and get down to business.
I personally like to shut my phone off, so I don’t get side tracked by texts, calls, and emails. I also find it helpful to close out of all the browser tabs I don’t need or could easily get distracted by if I’m doing work on my computer.
Down Time Is Crucial
It’s easy to get wrapped up in work, work, working….and it’s easy to let that lead to simply being burnt out. It’s a reality. It happens. It shouldn’t get you down.
Instead, you need to learn that down time is crucial. Just like managing and making the time to work on your side hustle is important, managing and making the time to relax is as well.
You’ve heard of work/life balance, right? Well, start practicing it now because it will serve you well.
