She Let Her Younger Daughter Wear Her Wedding Dress But She Refused To Let Her Oldest Daughter Wear It Due To Her Size

A mom has three children of her own; 40-year-old Anna, 37-year-old Becca, and 25-year-old Charlie.

This mom is built on the “petite” side, and so is her youngest daughter Becca, however, her oldest daughter Anna, her son, and her husband “are on the heavier side.”

A decade ago, Becca had a wedding, and Becca asked to wear her wedding dress, which is very special to her.

“My wedding dress belonged to my mother,” she explained. “It wasn’t a wedding dress. It is a full-length blue satin gown with long sleeves and ruffles.”

“It was also worn by my aunt during her wedding as a surprise to my mom because my grandparents used to make fun of my mom for her courthouse wedding in an ugly dress. So, lot of history.”

“Since Becca and I were similiar body wise it was easy to alter it to fit her and remove the extra stitches so that I could use it again. My husband and I celebrate our every 5 years anniversary in our wedding dresses.”

Back to Becca and Anna and their overall relationship; they really don’t get on that well.

Anna has always been jealous of Becca, and back when the girls were in high school, Anna’s friends said some really mean things to Becca.

Anna and Becca also happen to look nothing alike, and that’s also been a sore subject for the sisters over the years.

Complicating things further, Anna thought she would be the one to do certain things before Becca given the fact that she’s the oldest; like having her own family and getting married, yet Becca was the one who accomplished these things before Anna.

So, as Becca hit those major milestones, Anna grew more and more resentful of her sister.

“Anna got engaged recently and we are happy for her,” this mom said. “She has found someone who really loves her and they are wonderful together.”

“When she last came to visit, she brought up altering my wedding dress and wearing it. I spoke to my friend who worked on the dress during Becca’s wedding.”

“She told me that she can alter my dress to fit Anna but there would be lot of changes as Anna is much larger (350 lbs vs my 150 lbs).”

Given the size difference between her and Anna, if she lets Anna alter and wear her wedding dress, there’s no way it can be re-altered to fit her again and be the same as it was in the original form.

She thought about it and then phoned Anna up to say that she can’t let her wear her wedding dress.

Obviously, this greatly upset Anna, since Anna envisioned getting to wear this family heirloom on her special day.

“She called me fatphobic and a bunch of other words,” she continued. “She told me that this is bringing up a lot of bad memories.”

“She accused me of loving Becca more. I tried to explain to her but she told me that I would give her the dress even it means I cannot have it back if I loved her.”

“My mother is no more and this dress is incredibly sentimental to me. However, I also realize that weight has always been a sensitive topic for Anna. I understand that she is just feeling left out.”

This issue of Anna not getting to wear her wedding dress has really divided her family. Her other children, Becca and Charlie, agree with what she wants to do and so does her husband.

Anna and Anna’s soon-to-be-husband think she’s awful and are continuously accusing her of being fatphobic.

Anna has also threatened to go no contact with her over the wedding dress.
