Her Neighbor Unknowingly Went Out With A Con Man She Met On A Dating App And He Robbed Her Home

A TikToker named Ja from Central Florida was recently approached by a female neighbor with a dating app disaster story that is one for the books.
The neighbor initially asked Ja if she had cameras outside of her home. Ja did and asked about her neighbor’s sudden interest in her security system.
Then, the neighbor spilled the tea on her horrible encounter with a guy she met on a dating app.
The guy lived in South Florida and, after talking to the woman for several months online, decided to drive up to take her on a date.
According to Ja, the man was super handsome and utterly charming. But, there were also some red flags from the beginning.
For example, the man expected to stay with the neighbor from the start. Instead, the woman had to tell him that sleepovers were off-limits and instructed him to get a hotel room.
Still, the neighbor looked past this and continued to go out with the guy. Everything appeared to be going great after that.
“They went to dinner at this super nice restaurant, and they spent the evening getting to know each other,” Ja explained.

The pair actually had such a good time that they went out on the woman’s boat the following day. And they were having such a blast soaking up the sun and drinking out on the water that the pair decided to head back to the woman’s home since she had a pool.
That was when the woman let her guard down, and things went sideways. After a day of drinking, boating, and lounging by the pool, the woman ended up spending the night with the man.
Well, part of the night.
“She woke up at two in the morning, and he was not in bed. She went downstairs to find her front door wide open, and he was gone,” Ja said.
Not only did the man leave unexpectedly, though. He also robbed the woman.
“She discovered that he had taken her mom’s diamond ring. Her mom had passed away, so she wears it every day,” Ja recalled.
“He also took designer handbags out of her closet and some stuff out of her daughter’s closet. Then, dipped out.”
The neighbor was absolutely shell-shocked and approached Ja for help putting together a police report.
The security camera footage was supposed to aid authorities in tracking down the man’s rental car containing the stolen items. But, what the police uncovered was even more frightening.
Apparently, the man had used a false name while talking to the neighbor. He was really a con man from Arizona with a “rap sheet a mile long.”
“He was a straight-up con artist, and this is how he makes his living. He meets people on dating apps and is like a dirty John,” Ja said.
It also turned out that the photos the man showed the neighbor of his house in South Florida were actually from another woman’s residence. Ja believes the man was probably conning her, too.
And to Ja’s knowledge, the man has never been found. Now, the neighbor has decided to sell her house and move on from this terrifying situation.
The TikTok videos explaining the tragedy have since gained a collective six hundred and fifty thousand views, over twenty thousand likes, and nearly one thousand comments.
The tale has also reignited a fear among women about dating app creeps and catfishers.
“She is lucky to be alive,” commented one user.
“Omg, this is my biggest fear! This is why I want cameras IN my apartment. You cannot trust anyone!” wrote a second user.
Many commenters have also shared that they will never let a date from an online platform into their home after hearing this story and plan to extensively research anyone they speak to.
