She Made Her In-Laws Take In Her Son After They Condoned His Irresponsible Behavior

When this woman was twenty-two years old, she apparently married a thirty-six-year-old “momma’s boy.”
“Yep– money, power imbalance, the full deal. His mother ran our lives,” she recalled.
And once she and her ex-husband had a son together, her mother-in-law only became more overbearing.
Still, she was working as a wet nurse and had grown up in foster care. So, even though her mother-in-law utterly spoiled her ex, she left it alone for a long time. After all, she had always wanted a family.
However, after a while, she realized she was putting up with way too much maltreatment. So, after seven years, she finally divorced him at twenty-nine years old. But, when she left, her son did not want to go with her.
“He liked the life his grandmother could provide. She had everything at her house that a kid could want– including no rules,” she explained.
So, her son remained with her ex and in-laws. But then, when her son turned fifteen, her ex passed away.
At that point, she thought she could possibly get her son away from her mother-in-law. But, her mother-in-law had apparently already “sunk her claws into him.”
In fact, her son claimed that he would run away if she did not let him live with her mother-in-law. In turn, he remained there for a few more years.

But, her mother-in-law eventually passed away last year after her son turned nineteen. And even though her son was left an inheritance from his grandma, it was not a huge sum of money– so he blew through it really quickly.
And afterward, he showed up on her doorstep. He apparently needed a place to stay, and, as his mother, she told her son that he was always welcome.
However, she did not appreciate her son lounging around her house and living by her mother-in-law’s old rules.
“He would not clean up after himself or help around the house. He would stay up playing video games and sleep until the afternoon,” she said.
“And I told him that was not going to work for me, and he needed to shape up.”
Instead of growing up, though, her son just ran to her in-laws and began complaining about how much of a terrible mother she was.
This prompted them to start harassing her and accusing her of being unreasonable. So, she gave her son one more chance to change his behavior and start acting more responsibly. But he didn’t.
He just kept on complaining about her house and her rules to one of his aunts until finally, she had enough.
So, one day when he was out of the house, she decided to pack up all of his belongings and drop them off at her in-laws. Then, once her son arrived home, she dropped him off, too.
She believed that if her in-laws were going to validate his immature behavior, then they could deal with it.
Ever since then, though, her entire family has been calling her an absolute jerk for abandoning her son. Plus, her son has apparently been driving them just as crazy as he had made her.
So now, she is not sure if making her in-laws take in her son was the right way to handle the situation or not.
Do you think she had a right to drop off her son or not? Would you have done the same thing if you were in her shoes?
