This thirty-year-old man has a younger sister named Julie, who is twenty-five. And last year, Julie was in line to inherit his great-grandmother’s ring since she was the firstborn female on his mother’s side of the family.

At the time, though, his girlfriend– Laura– saw the ring and thought it was absolutely gorgeous. In fact, Laura even claimed that one day, she wanted a wedding ring just like it.

Don’t worry, though, Laura had no intention of actually taking that ring, and neither did he. Instead, he came up with a pretty brilliant idea.

Since he was planning on proposing to Laura anyway, he decided to get a custom ring made to resemble the one Julie was going to inherit. So, he found a jewelry maker and showed them photos of the heirloom.

“But, the jewelry maker said that it would be better if they could actually see the ring in person. So, I went to my mom (the current holder of the ring), explained the situation, and even showed the invoice before asking if I could borrow it,” he explained.

And his mother ultimately agreed to let him take the ring to the jeweler just for the proposal’s sake. Unfortunately, though, this is where the story takes a tragic turn.

Apparently, the jeweler had to hold onto the ring for about forty-eight hours after he brought it into the shop.

And after those two days, he went to pick up the ring and bring it back to his mother’s house when he received a devastating phone call.

He learned that Laura had been in a serious accident and needed emergency surgery immediately.

So, at that moment, he did not think about anything except his future fiancé and rushed to the hospital to be with her, as well as Laura’s mother and sister. But thankfully, after the surgery, the doctors said that Laura was going to be okay.

“I was so relieved and agreed to drive Laura’s sister back to their house and then go back to the hospital,” he recalled.

After dropping Laura’s sister off, though, he decided to head to his own house in order to squeeze in a quick shower. But once he got there, he came face to face with his parents, Julie, and the police, all waiting for him.

Apparently, Julie had found out that his mother had loaned him the ring, and his sister assumed that he had lied about just needing to borrow it.

So, Julie ran up and began accusing him of being a thief and demanding that he give the family heirloom back.

He also learned that his parents had tried to step in and calm Julie down before she went to the police.

But, when he did not pick up his phone– due to bad cell reception in the hospital, might I add– Julie became impatient and reported him for theft.

Obviously, though, he had no intention of keeping the ring and ended up giving it back to Julie on the spot.

Then, he informed his family about the accident Laura had been in before leaving them all standing in front of his house like total jerks.

Still, his sister Julie had already done some pretty bad damage to his reputation. Apparently, she had begun trashing him all over social media and did not take down the posts until she learned about Laura’s accident.

Thankfully, though, most of his family was very apologetic about the misunderstanding, and they all attempted to move on.

Well, now, he and Laura are finally engaged and preparing for their wedding. Laura even recently asked his other sister, Annie, to be a bridesmaid. But, the heartfelt moment turned sour over the family heirloom yet again.

Apparently, after hearing that Annie was going to be in the bridal party, Julie also reached out and asked if she was going to be a bridesmaid. So, at that point, he was forced to inform Julie that she was actually not invited to the wedding at all.

And if you could not have guessed it, this news only prompted more drama. Since then, Julie has called him bitter and is claiming that he has no reason to still be upset with her.

On top of that, his parents kind of agree with Julie and think that he is being too harsh by not at least inviting her to the event.

Despite their perspectives, though, he is still pissed that his sister thought he would try to con her out of a family heirloom. So, he has been left wondering if he has a right to withhold Julie’s wedding invite or if he is just being petty like his family says.

Why do you think his sister jumped to the conclusion that he was a thief without giving him the benefit of the doubt first? Do you believe he has a right to still be upset with his sister over the mishap, or should he be over it by now? If you were in his shoes, would you invite Julie to the wedding or not?
