This thirty-six-year-old woman and her fiancé, who is forty, have been in a relationship for about two years now. They also live together with her three children from her former marriage– who are seven, eleven, and fourteen years old.

Anyway, she claims that her fiancé loves her children and treats them as if they are his own kids. At the same time, though, he also constantly complains about certain behaviors and claims that the kids lack discipline.

“I never understood what he meant, but mind you, he’s a teacher. So, he can take this whole discipline thing a bit far,” she revealed.

And more recently, she noticed that her fiancé has been performing some “tests” on her children to gauge their honesty and respect.

One example of this was when her fiancé left his journal out to see if any of the children would snoop and read it. Another time, he left money floating around the house to see if any of the kids would steal it.

Over the weekend, though, her fiancé decided to kick his “tests” up a notch and sent the kids on a wild goose chase for no reason– which totally pissed her off.

It all began when her fiancé announced that he had lost a dollar from his pocket. Then, he offered up ten dollars to whatever kid could find the dollar first.

So, of course, the kids all began searching the house from top to bottom for about an hour. And her seven and eleven-year-old children never found the dollar.

But, her fourteen-year-old claimed to have discovered one and went to announce the finding to her fiancé.

“My fiancé lost it and started yelling, ‘Ahh! Gotcha now!’ and my son was confused,” she explained.

“It turns out that my fiancé did not lose any money and lied about the dollar to see how the kids would react.”

And obviously, it became apparent at that point that her son had “failed” her fiancé’s test by lying. Apparently, her son never “found” a dollar but instead took one from his allowance in hopes of getting the larger ten-dollar pot.

Her fiancé’s “test” did not end there, though. In fact, he actually went on to punish her son for being “dishonest” and “greedy.”

The punishment? Her fiancé tried to take away her son’s allowance for a month and all of his electronics for a week!

She was totally appalled by that and ended up getting into a huge argument with her fiancé about the punishment.

And during the fight, she even called her fiancé delusional for playing mind games on her children.

“Besides, it’s not like my son stole anything from my fiancé. He just failed my fiancé’s stupid test, and kids make mistakes and learn,” she vented.

Still, her fiancé tried to claim that the test was about “principles” and said he wanted to raise the kids to become “decent adults.”

She honestly did not care, though, and refused to let her fiancé punish her son. So, ever since then, her fiancé has been calling her an enabler.

On top of that, he claims that once they get married, her “attitude” will be no help because it will undermine his authority as a parent.

And he “will not tolerate having greedy and dishonest individuals living under his roof,” according to her.

So now, she has been left in a pretty sticky situation. She honestly does not believe her fiancé’s parenting efforts are positively impacting or molding her children whatsoever.

At the same time, though, she’s not sure if calling her fiancé delusional and refusing to let him punish her son was the wrong way to handle this particular situation.

Why do you think her fiancé is so bent on ensuring the kids are disciplined? Do you think his “tests” are beneficial or just confusing? If you had been in her shoes, would you have allowed your partner to punish your son?
