After collecting his thoughts, he questioned his mom about his grandma’s ring, and then his mom wanted to know which ring he was talking about.
He had no clue that his grandma had more than one ring, and then he asked his mom if she was going to give him his grandma’s ring that his dad had proposed to his mom with.
“I asked where those rings are because the ring I’m being offered feels wrong, almost taboo,” he said. “My mom said that she had both of my grandmother’s rings turned into earrings that she gave to my sister as a graduation gift. And she said I can take ex-fiancé’s ring or not; she gets it if I don’t want it.”
He was so crushed that his mom didn’t save his grandma’s ring for him. He has always considered his sister to be the favorite child, and that’s honestly why he moved across the country in the first place.
On top of that, his mom and dad never got him a graduation present, yet his mom turned around and let his sister have both of his grandma’s rings.
“Am I crazy for thinking this is weird and being upset by it?” he wondered. “It’s very nice to be offered an expensive ring to propose to my girlfriend with. I feel s***** and spoiled for complaining about it at all cause most people have to save up for years for an engagement ring. But I feel like my sister gets everything, and if I get offered something, it’s backhanded at best.”
“Anyhow, I rejected the ring at first because I was bothered. Now, I’m thinking I should ask for it and just sell it to start off buying the ring I’d like to get my girlfriend. Am I being rude to my mom if I do that? Am I just being over dramatic to be annoyed with this situation?”
