This man currently works full-time and has a wife who is a stay-at-home mother for their children. His wife reportedly works hard taking care of both the house and the kids; meanwhile, he claims to complete a fair amount of housework and yardwork– a division of labor that they agreed to together.

He also noted that his wife has full access to all of their accounts except his personal spending account.

However, he still reportedly puts the exact same amount of money into her personal spending account– which he can only deposit to, not withdraw.

Anyway, he has a home office in their house that he really cherishes. Now, he does not work from home, but he uses the space to catch up on any work after hours and also play video games or with his collectible toys.

His wife apparently also has her own room dedicated to her hobbies. So, he has asked his wife countless times to just leave his home office alone.

He claims that he cleans it by himself, always takes out any dishes and washes them, and takes out his own trash.

Plus, whenever his kids join him to play in his office, he cleans up after all of them. Likewise, when his wife plays video games with him, he tidies up afterward, also.

“There is quite literally no reason for her to do anything in there when I am not in it. I do not have a lock on my door, but I do have my laptop password protected,” he explained.

Just recently, though, his wife decided to go into his home office again– and it, unfortunately, resulted in his computer breaking.

For context, he apparently has a collection of Lego Minifigs. And sometimes, he likes to line up some figures, such as Batman and Spider-Man, under the screen of his laptop because he likes to imagine that they are watching him work.

“I know it is silly, but I like it,” he said.

So, when his wife decided to clean his office this past week, the figures were still sitting underneath the screen of his open laptop.

And while cleaning, his wife seemingly needed to move his laptop out of the way, so she accidentally closed it with the Minifigs still there, and it broke the screen.

He had been out of the house at the time, but as soon as he came home, his wife told him what had happened, and he went to check on the computer. Unfortunately, though, the screen was not working at all.

In turn, he was forced to drag out his old monitor, hook it up to the laptop, and see if anything else was messed up, too.

Thankfully, only his screen was affected, so he did some research and found that it was going to cost about two hundred and fifty dollars to repair the screen. So, he ultimately decided to replace the laptop altogether– snagging a Black Friday deal for six hundred dollars– and use his old monitor for the kids.

Afterward, he spoke to his wife about the expenses, though, and told her that he expected her to take responsibility for the accident.

He then took three hundred and fifty dollars out of his own account, plus two hundred and fifty dollars from what he was going to deposit into his wife’s personal account for December to purchase the new computer.

He claims that the computer cost will in no way affect their budget for anything other than personal interests and side hobbies.

He specifically was looking forward to purchasing a new Lego set to work on with his kids over the holidays. But, because of the laptop, he will just have to rebuild an old set with them this year.

His wife, however, has not been very understanding about her personal spending money taking a hit. In fact, she is seriously pissed off that she will have to cut back on her “fun stuff” for December to replace his computer.

“She likes to have a spa day with her mom, for example, but I said that I was not responsible for my computer being broken and that she one hundred percent was,” he recalled.

Still, his wife claims that it was just an accident and that he should forgive her. So, he told his wife that he does fully forgive her, but that does not mean she doesn’t have to help him pay for a new laptop.

And now, he has been left wondering if making his wife contribute to the laptop replacement cost was a jerky thing to do.

Why do you think his wife kept going into the home office, even though she reportedly had no reason to be in there? Do you believe it was fair of him to expect his wife to pay for some of the laptop’s cost? What would you have done if you were in his shoes?
