She Was 8 Months Pregnant When She Vanished In 1985, And As Soon As Her Boyfriend Was Questioned About Her Disappearance, He Allegedly Claimed He Didn’t Know Her
In 1985, twenty-nine-year-old Linda Ann House had two sons– who were five and ten years old at the time. The young mom from Dallas, Texas, was also excitedly expecting her third child.
But, on November 8, 1985, everything changed for the House family, especially Linda’s two sons.
That morning started off like any other day. Linda woke up her boys, got ready, and hugged her sons goodbye before heading out.
Afterward, she traveled to her then-boyfriend’s house, James (he also went by Jim), who reportedly worked at an architectural firm in Dallas.
What exactly happened following Linda’s departure, though, has remained a mystery for decades.
All the House family knows is that Linda, who was eight months pregnant with a baby girl at the time, seemingly vanished into thin air.
According to Chris, Linda’s younger son, the lack of progress in his mother’s case was due to lackluster investigative efforts.
He shared his frustrations with the Dallas Police Department in a Facebook post for what would have been his mother’s sixty-fourth birthday on October 1, 2020.

“Happy birthday, Mom, wherever you are! Dallas Police Department, I hope you have changed your policies and do a better job of investigating other missing person cases,” Chris began.
He went on to detail how authorities reportedly contacted Linda’s boyfriend following the disappearance. But, at first, James denied ever knowing Linda.
“The next time they approached him, he [James] directed them to talk to his attorney. To our family’s knowledge, that is where it stopped,” Chris continued.
“On that day, we didn’t just lose a mother, a daughter, a sister, or a friend, but we also lost my soon-to-be sister.”
Now that Chris is an adult, though, he refuses to stop fighting for answers and justice. A few years ago, he submitted his DNA to the Department of Public Safety to be tested against the national cadaver lab.
Unfortunately, there were no matches.
Still, Linda’s son did not quit after hitting that dead end. Chris subsequently launched a Facebook group entitled Justice for Linda House, in which he detailed the mysterious circumstances of his mother’s disappearance– as well as the scarce investigation.
And after one particular post regarding Linda’s case gained a lot of traction and support on the platform, Chris was inspired to launch a GoFundMe campaign to finally get to the bottom of what happened to his mother.
The fundraiser– which has garnered eight hundred and eighty-five dollars so far– was initiated in hopes of raising enough funds to launch a private investigation.
“Thanks to the numerous connections that we have made as a result of your shared effort to seek #JusticeForLindaHouse, we were able to meet with a very successful, legitimate, and well-known private investigator last week who, upon review of the case and interviewing multiple family members, has agreed to take on my mother’s case,” Chris wrote in a GoFundMe update.
However, he also shared the significant expense of launching such an effort. According to Chris, the investigation will cost about fifty thousand dollars– twenty-five thousand of which has already been covered by an anonymous source.
So now, the House family is in need of the remaining twenty-five thousand dollars: twelve thousand dollars to launch the investigation and another thirteen thousand dollars to curtail it.
“This may seem like a significant amount of money, but the peace and closure myself and my family could see as a result of any discoveries and findings of this investigation would be priceless for us,” Chris said.
“Someone, somewhere, knows what happened to my mother and unborn sibling. And we are determined, with your help, to bring closure and justice for both of them.”
