This man in his 30s has a wife close in age to him, and they have 3 children together who are 7, 6, and 3.

He works full-time, and his wife does as well, but he was working from home up until he got a promotion.

This promotion entailed him going to work in the office, and he received a lot more money to do this.

He and his wife knew he couldn’t pass this up, so he accepted the promotion, and they then decided to get a part-time nanny to help with their children.

He called an agency that mentioned they have a woman living close by that can come out. The agency informed him that this woman’s name was Sarah, but that’s the only information they gave out.

He then called Sarah, and over the phone, she came across as super sweet, so he asked if she would come by one day to meet him, his wife, and their children.

Sarah said yes to this, and when she arrived at their home for a meet and greet, it was clear that his wife knew her but not in a good way.

Everything between Sarah and his wife seemed super uncomfortable, but he had no clue how they had already met.

“My wife told me that back when she was in high school, her boyfriend at the time cheated on her with Sarah, who was in her class,” he explained.

“She wasn’t enthusiastic about it, but my wife didn’t seem to have a problem with Sarah being our nanny at first. Our kids love her, she has lots of experience, and she’s available when we need her.”

“After a couple of weeks with pretty much no issues, my two oldest kids come to me and say that they don’t want Sarah to come back. I ask them why, and they said she’s “evil.” I ask why they think she’s evil, and our 6-year-old starts crying and says that Sarah is mean and wants to hurt mommy.”

He questioned his wife privately about why their children were saying these strange things about Sarah, and she swore she didn’t know and it had to be because Sarah did something bad. He knew this wasn’t the truth, so he kept pushing, and his wife then confessed to letting the kids know that Sarah was “evil.”

She then mentioned that she was expecting him to let Sarah go before also admitting that Sarah makes her uneasy because of what happened back in high school.

He asked his wife from there why she had not brought this up to him previously, and his wife said she just needed time to consider her feelings.

“I told my wife that we can find another nanny, but until then, there’s no reason to get rid of Sarah and that she was out of line for trying to weaponize the kids against her when Sarah is no danger to them,” he said.

“My wife disagreed and said that we need to just fire Sarah ASAP and hire a temporary babysitter until we can find another nanny. She said that she wasn’t weaponizing the kids; she was just setting boundaries. This turned into a really heated argument, and I called my wife insecure and controlling and told her she needs to go to therapy. My wife said I’m being inconsiderate of her feelings and need to put myself in her shoes. This was one of our biggest arguments in a very long time, and I just want a neutral opinion on whether I was wrong.”
