He then turned to online shopping to see if that would be cheaper, but no. Everything he came across that looked nice was three times more than what he was willing to spend.
Instead of searching for real diamonds, he then began searching for fake ones that looked real.
So, he eventually found a $20 ring on Amazon that looked perfect to him. He purchased the ring, figuring that in 5 or 10 years, he can buy a real diamond ring for his fiancée.
When he did get down on one knee and give his fiancée the ring that he bought, she adored it.
“She said it was exactly what she had dreamed of and started asking about how I found a “natural” diamond that was so flawless and clear,” he said.
He came up with some reason for her, but then his fiancée wanted to know exactly where he purchased the ring and how much he had spent.
He felt a bit blindsided by all of the questions his fiancée was throwing out there, and he’s been trying to stay on top of the lies he told her about the ring.
All evening long, she kept on asking him questions.
“To make matters worse, both of our families were present for the proposal and engagement after-party,” he continued.
“They were impressed by my budget ring as well. I think she’ll calm down with the questions after a week or so, and I really feel like the decision I made was the best option for our future from a financial standpoint.”
“If I tell her, I know she’ll be upset, but I don’t think I’ll need to since she’ll never take the ring to have the diamonds tested or anything like that. It’s not like anyone else knew the difference either!”
He’s left wondering if it was wrong of him not to own up to the fact that he bought her a fake ring.
What do you think; should he tell her the truth or just wait and see what happens?
