Her Fiancé Is Disappointed She Allowed Her Parents To “Waste Money” Paying For Her Wedding Dress When She Could Have Gotten A Discounted Gown Through His Sister

This young woman is currently engaged. And her future sister-in-law just so happens to work in the wedding industry.

That’s why she could theoretically avoid one of the most stressful parts of wedding dress shopping: a hefty price tag.

More specifically, her fiancé’s sister is able to use her industry connections to gain access to certain wedding dresses at insane discounts. And sometimes, her fiancé’s sister can even get gowns for free.

“By free, I mean that her company will buy the dress for her, and then they will sort out getting paid back later,” she clarified.

Regardless, her fiancé proposed just a couple of months ago. So, she recently decided it was the right time to start searching for her dress.

And given that her fiancé’s sister works in the industry, her fiancé thought it would be a good idea to take advantage of the discount opportunities.

He also pointed out how her soon-to-be sister-in-law would see her in her gown before her wedding day anyway. So, it only made sense to get a price reduction, too.

And she wound up agreeing with her fiancé on that. After all, it made sense for them to save money wherever they could.

“I also liked not worrying about a budget. To a certain degree– no $20,000 dresses for me,” she said.

Still, she wound up going dress shopping with her mom. And at the very first store they visited, she found “the one”– the perfect dress she had always dreamed of.

Just to be sure, though, she and her mom still went to the second, third, and fourth stores they had planned to visit. While there, she tried on all of their dress options, too. But she still loved “the one” she had found earlier.

It was also at this point that she learned her parents really wanted to be involved in the purchase. Apparently, her mom revealed how her father had always intended to pay for her wedding gown.

That’s why her mom actually encouraged her to buy the dress she picked out on the spot. So she did, and she went home that night feeling beyond happy. Once she actually talked to her fiancé and told him about the dress, though, he was actually pretty displeased. In fact, while he was a little upset with her, he was more so just disappointed.

Apparently, her fiancé claimed that her parents wasted money on her wedding gown instead of helping pay for other wedding things they needed– such as flowers or a photographer. But honestly, she felt like his sour response to her parent’s sweet gesture really just ruined her moment.

“I’m upset that when I look back at this moment, I’ll remember him being upset and not me finding my wedding dress,” she vented.

At the same token, though, she’s not sure if her fiancé kind of had a point. So now, she’s been left wondering whether buying her wedding dress outright instead of using her future sister-in-law for a discount was the wrong thing to do.

Is it understandable why her fiancé wanted to save money where they could? At the same time, is it fair for her fiancé to be upset that she accepted a kind gesture from her parents? If your mom and dad wanted to buy your dress, would you let them?
