This 33-year-old woman has a younger sister named Jamie, who is 31. And being that Jamie just got engaged a few months ago, her sister has been completely entrenched in the wedding planning.

Now, it’s important to note that she already got married two years ago. So, for her and her sister’s engagement, their parents decided to gift each of them $25,000 as a wedding present. The funds were meant to help with the wedding expenses, as well as set them up with some savings.

That’s why, for her wedding, she and her husband decided to just have a small ceremony and reception in her parent’s backyard. She even used her mom’s old wedding dress and was able to keep their expenses very low.

So, she and her husband wound up saving a whopping $20,000 out of her parent’s gift. And afterward, they were able to just put those funds into their savings account.

While she and her husband were thrilled with how their wedding day went, though, her sister Jamie would not stop badmouthing it. In fact, Jamie reportedly gossiped about how her wedding was so “cheap” and “trashy” at basically every family event afterward.

“I think she expected a lot more from me because I work as a software engineer, and my husband is a surgeon, and we could have afforded to have a much nicer wedding,” she said.

Regardless, now that it’s time for Jamie to tie the knot, her sister plans to go all out. And honestly, she really would not care about that if Jamie could actually afford it.

But, it appears that her sister cannot, and instead has become a major bridezilla who will not stop asking everyone to fund her nuptials!

Her sister had already asked their parents for more than the original $25,000. Understandably, though, they refused to give any more money.

That’s why her sister started asking other family members for more cash. And while some people did chip in, Jamie has only gotten an extra $5,000.

“And unfortunately, my sister knows I saved the $20,000 from my parents and that my husband and I have a good amount of money saved up because of our salaries,” she revealed.

That’s why she and her husband have become Jamie’s latest target. More specifically, her sister will not stop asking her to either provide $20,000 as a wedding gift or help pay for another event– such as the bachelorette party, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, or honeymoon.

Apparently, her sister’s reasoning is that she and her husband can easily afford it. Plus, Jamie pointed out how she had already gifted one of her cousins a honeymoon vacation as a wedding gift just last year.

So, her sister believes that if she could do that for a cousin, then she could do the same for her own sibling.

But, while her sister is right that she could easily afford to pay for the wedding, she really just is not interested.

“In all honesty, I don’t want to give her anything after she treated me so poorly following my own wedding,” she admitted.

She wound up being honest and telling her sister that, too– claiming that she just didn’t want to financially support someone who failed to support her on her own wedding day.

Ever since that conversation, though, Jamie has not changed her behavior whatsoever. Instead, her sister has proceeded to tell her entire family that she is extremely immature and selfish.

What’s even worse is that Jamie had apparently put deposits down for various services and vendors and just expected that she would swoop in and help pay for it.

But, now that she is refusing to fund the wedding, Jamie has no way of paying for any of the vendors and will not even be able to get the deposits back.

Due to this, her family members have started to take Jamie’s side– claiming that she needs to help her sister out to prevent Jamie from losing the little money she has.

“But I just don’t see how this is my problem,” she vented.

Still, she’s now been left wondering whether refusing to help her sister pay for the wedding is the wrong thing to do.

Why do you think her sister was so rude about how she decided to use her wedding gift? Can you understand why she now doesn’t want to fund her sister’s wedding? Even if she could easily afford it, should she feel obligated to hand over $20,000? What would you do?
