She Refused To Cook An Extra Meal For Her Moody Stepsister While Babysitting, But Her Mom And Stepdad Were Annoyed That They Had To Deal With Whining When They Got Home

This 16-year-old girl is the oldest child in her family and has six siblings and stepsiblings. And since all of the kids are 11-years-old or younger, she is sometimes needed to babysit.
But, she honestly does not mind looking after them since she usually gets paid well. Anyway, she needed to babysit again yesterday when her mom and stepdad went out on a date.
So, she watched the kids from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and was expected to cook dinner for them, too.
Before her mom left, her mom instructed her to just cook some spaghetti and garlic bread because the meal was quick to prepare. Plus, all of her siblings like it.
So, she listened to her mom and went ahead with cooking dinner. However, once she actually served it to the kids, her 7-year-old sister Tia was really not happy.
Now, Tia has apparently always been a picky eater. But spaghetti was also known to be one of her sister’s favorite meals.
That’s why, after Tia claimed not to like it, she figured her sister was just in a mood.
“I told her to try seven bites, and it usually works. But she didn’t,” she recalled. “And the other kids were eating it fine, and when I tasted it later, it tasted like usual. So, it’s not my cooking skills she didn’t like because she has had my spaghetti before.”
Regardless, Tia started screaming about wanting pizza. And after she told her sister no, Tia continued whining.

At that point, she decided to offer her sister a sandwich. But Tia would not accept anything that wasn’t pizza.
So, while everyone finished their dinner, her little sister just sat there crying. Plus, whenever she tried to ask Tia why she didn’t want the spaghetti, her sister just ignored her.
Anyway, after a while, she decided to make Tia a sandwich anyway because she didn’t want the little girl to starve.
Even after the sandwich was placed in front of Tia, though, her little sister just pushed it away and continued demanding that she make pizza.
“But I told her I wasn’t going to make an entire pizza from scratch, and she had to eat either spaghetti or the sandwich,” she explained.
Still, Tia opted to eat neither and continued whining for the rest of the evening. So, by the time her parents arrived home, her little sister was still in a mood, and she was forced to explain why.
At that point, her stepdad claimed that she should have just “humored” Tia and gotten her little sister to eat by giving her a “mini pizza on bread.”
He also said that she should’ve figured it out and given Tia what she liked because then, her parents were forced to “deal” with Tia’s whining, too.
However, she admitted to not knowing that Tia wanted a mini pizza. Her stepdad didn’t believe her, though, and claimed that she saw her little sister eating “mini pizzas” all the time.
So, he said that she should have known better.
Her mom even took her stepdad’s side, too, and told her she should’ve been more “mindful” to avoid all of the chaos.
So now, she’s been left wondering whether not cooking her little sister an extra separate meal was the wrong way to handle the situation.
Didn’t she follow her mom’s instructions by making spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner? What do you think about her parents not wanting to “deal” with Tia after they got home? Is it okay to appease a child just to get them to stop whining, or did she do the right thing by holding her ground?
