Kianna Galvin was a teen from Illinois with big plans.

She originally attended South Elgin High School while living with her mother, Fionna. But later, she decided to live with her father in Rockford, Illinois, for one year while attending Auburn High School.

Kianna did eventually return to South Elgin, where she obtained her GED. And upon completing this milestone, she had plans to pursue studies in art and design in Atlanta, Georgia.

But before those dreams could come to fruition, though, 17-year-old Kianna mysteriously vanished.

In the time leading up to her disappearance, she had been living with her mother and younger sister in a Concord Avenue home in South Elgin, Illinois. At the same time, Kianna was working as a full-time housekeeper at a rehabilitation center for the elderly.

Shortly before she vanished, Kianna had gotten off juvenile probation– which originated from a dispute with her mother. She also broke up with her ex-boyfriend and was newly single before she disappeared.

While things might have been looking up, however, everything went downhill beginning on May 5, 2016.

That day, Kianna was fired from her housekeeping job after working at the rehabilitation center for two months. The reason behind her being let go was reportedly attendance issues.

But despite Kianna being upset over the loss of her job, she was reportedly not distraught. And later that same day, she visited the store with her mother to purchase steaks to prepare for Mother’s Day.

The following morning, Kianna’s mother headed out for work at about 7:00 a.m. on May 6. Beforehand, the pair chatted as usual, and everything appeared fine– with Kianna reportedly seeming to be in a cheerful mood.

Then, at 12:30 p.m., Kianna left her house and told her younger sister she planned to meet some friends at a park three blocks away– known as Jim Hansen Park. She also planned to return home a few hours later.

But Kianna never arrived back at her house that afternoon, and she has never been seen or heard from again.

Two days later, Kianna’s mother contacted the South Elgin Police Department on May 8, 2016, to file a missing person report after failing to locate her daughter.

Kianna vanished without her purse, wallet, or cell phone charger. She also did not have a bank account, car, or access to any credit cards.

Once Kianna was reported missing, an investigation was launched. And on November 8, 2016, police officers executed a search warrant at a man’s home located on the 800 block of Revere Road.

At that point, authorities believed Kianna had been a victim of aggravated battery and murder. So, during the search, investigators were looking for any clothing, fingerprints, or other pieces of evidence.

It remains unknown what results, if any, the search effort yielded.

Kianna’s cell phone and Facebook message records from the day she went missing showed that she had planned to visit a male who lived in the basement of a Revere Road to make a purchase.

Just after leaving her home that afternoon, she messaged the man at 12:35 p.m. to inform him that she was on her way over.

Following that text, however, no other messages were ever sent from Kianna’s phone. The device was also disconnected from its cellular network at 1:10 p.m.

Authorities did locate the man Kianna visited that day and questioned him on November 13, 2016. But, he claimed Kianna never entered his home and left the residence at 12:45 p.m. while messaging with another man.

Investigators also spoke with a neighbor on May 12, 2016, who lived beside the unidentified man. The neighbor revealed that they had found traces of blood on their garbage can lid approximately six days after Kianna vanished.

The evidence was then collected and sent to a lab for testing– ultimately revealing that the blood had been Kianna’s.

The neighbor additionally claimed to have seen Kianna enter the man’s house either the day before or the day of her disappearance.

However, by June 6, 2016, investigators were told that the Revere Road home’s bathroom had undergone remodeling. Later, the unidentified man was convicted of the assault of another woman– ultimately receiving a 15-year prison sentence.

Authorities suspect that foul play was involved in Kianna’s disappearance and that she was a homicide victim.

While the Revere Road man’s identity has never been publicly revealed– and he has not been named a suspect– he also remains a person of interest in Kianna’s case.

Still, Kianna’s case remains unsolved, and her loved ones have continued searching for answers.

Online, her family created a Facebook page entitled “Justice for Kianna,” which has since gained over 4,700 followers. There, Kianna’s story is shared to raise awareness and keep her memory alive.

At the time of her disappearance, Kianna was between five foot six and five foot five and weighed between 125 and 150 pounds. She had brown hair, hazel eyes, and had tattoos of a heart and a cross on her left wrist.

If you have any information regarding Kianna’s disappearance or whereabouts, you are urged to contact the South Elgin Police Department at (847) 741-2151.
