When it comes to planning weddings, there may be some chaos surrounding what everyone wears. Some brides and grooms insist that everyone follows a specific color scheme, while others are more laid back.

One bride-to-be recently uninvited her aunt to her upcoming wedding after she berated her for not allowing her daughter to wear white to the wedding.

She’s 28 years old and will marry her fiancée in about two months. She has a 42-year-old aunt who has a 15-year-old daughter named Macy.

They were both initially invited to the wedding, and three weeks ago, her aunt contacted her about what Macy should wear to the wedding.

She and her fiancée chose a wedding theme with lilac and white colors, so she told her aunt if Macy wanted to wear a lilac dress, that would be great.

Then, her aunt sent her photos of the dresses she had bought Macy to choose from, and each one was white.

“I told her that I liked them but that I didn’t like the fact they were white,” she explained.

“She asked me if I can make an exception since her daughter is family. I apologized and said I’d be happier if they picked a different color.”

Then, her aunt responded and said that Macy doesn’t like the color purple. She calmly explained to her aunt that Macy didn’t have to wear purple; it was only a suggestion. She’s not planning on forcing guests to wear a color they don’t want.

Then, her aunt angrily called her and accused her of not wanting Macy to wear one of the white dresses because it was too short.

However, that had nothing to do with what she was talking about, and she didn’t think the dress was too revealing. She just didn’t like that it was white.

After their heated phone call, her aunt invited her for coffee to talk it out.

At their meeting, her aunt apologized and said it was unfair that she and her fiancée would both be wearing white at the wedding, but Macy couldn’t.

Additionally, she said since their wedding is “untraditional,” she thought it would be okay for Macy to wear white.

“I asked her what she meant by untraditional, and she went on to explain that a woman marrying a woman is not very common or ‘morally right,'” she recalled.

She was so taken aback by her aunt’s disrespectful behavior that she got up and left her at the coffee shop.

Worried that Macy was still upset, she texted and apologized for the dress situation.

Then, she learned that Macy didn’t want to wear any of the white dresses her mom picked out. It was all her aunt’s idea.

Additionally, Macy had found a nice pink dress she wanted to wear instead. So, she offered to buy it for her.

“She thanked me and apologized for her mom,” she said. “I told her not to worry about it.”

She called her aunt and told her she was no longer invited to the wedding but that Macy was still invited. Her aunt was deeply offended and started talking about how unfair the situation was.

Her mom has no issue taking Macy to the wedding and thinks she made the right decision. Her fiancée agrees.

However, her aunt’s husband and other family members have been telling her she was too harsh on her aunt and that she should go easy on her because she’s “from a different time.”

Was she too harsh with her aunt, or was uninviting her a good idea?
