She Had A Freaky Experience In Japan When A Strange Man Followed Her, And Then She Ran Into Him Several More Times On The Street Where She Lived

Have you ever been in a foreign country and had a scary experience involving a stranger?
When traveling internationally, especially alone, we make ourselves vulnerable, as most people in different countries can spot a tourist instantly.
One woman recently had a freaky experience while living in Japan for a few months, and her story is a good reminder to always be aware of your surroundings.
She’s American but has lived in Japan for the past few months after her husband was sent there for work.
One day while walking around a mall alone, she ran into someone who may have had bad intentions.
She was in a shoe store when a strange man approached her and asked how she was doing.
“By [his] tone, I could tell his intentions were gross, so I ignored [him] and was going to pretend I didn’t speak English,” she recalled.
“He persisted and asked what my name was. I ended up telling him I was fine and told him my name, which I regret.”
After telling the man her first name, he didn’t introduce himself and asked her if she was in the mall alone. She told him she was with her husband.

Then the man creepily said he hadn’t seen her with anyone and asked if she was lying. She told him no that her husband was around somewhere.
She was genuinely scared and didn’t want to make any big or sudden movements, so she slowly made her way to the other side of the store while pretending to look at shoes. Once there, she noticed the man staring at her intensely from the other side of the store.
“[He] wasn’t even trying to make it subtle, just standing with his hands in his pockets looking right at me,” she said.
“Then I noticed [that] when I would move, he would move and never stopped looking at me. So I stood near a group of girls in the store.”
When she noticed the man looking in a different direction, she finally made a move and booked it out of the shoe store.
The store was on the fifth floor, so she found an escalator and went down as quickly as possible.
She realized she should maybe try remaining calm instead of being noticeably panicked, so she tried to relax. But then, once she got to the mall’s third floor, she saw him again, staring at her.
She decided to flee the mall and was constantly looking behind her to make sure the scary man wasn’t following her.
She figured she shouldn’t go straight home in case he continued to follow her, so she ran into another nearby mall and waited there for an hour. Thankfully, the man didn’t show up.
However, she terrifyingly ended up seeing the man a few more times on the street she lived on, which happened to be near a lot of nightclubs and bars.
Because she didn’t feel safe, she and her husband moved to a different apartment, and she hasn’t seen the man since.
“I’m so grateful nothing actually happened, but I am still so freaked out by the thought of what could have happened,” she explained.
