She Got Upset With Her Husband For Ordering Food, But Not Getting Anything That She Wanted

This woman and her husband recently bought their first house.
Because of this, they understandably planned to save money wherever and whenever they could.
In order to do this, their rule was that up until the 14th of this month, they would only spend money on necessities so that they weren’t strapped for cash.
Unfortunately, she knew when they made this agreement that her husband struggles to save money, no matter how important it is for him to be more financially responsible.
“Yesterday, my husband and I both worked open to close (we work at the same place but in different areas). He was in a bad mood all night coming home and was cold to me. We decided since we were on our feet all day, we didn’t want to cook, so we decided to order in,” she said.
For more than an hour, her husband stubbornly couldn’t agree with her on a restaurant for them to order food from.
“It was just him saying no or yelling at me saying, ‘I’M NOT HUNGRY.’ Okay, fine. But I AM. So, I’m looking into ordering food. I pick cheaper places, and he asks me what I’m thinking,” she explained.
She suggested three different restaurants that she hadn’t ordered from in a long time that she would be happy to order from, but her husband rejected every single idea. In the end, he settled on ordering from a restaurant that she didn’t really like, and that only had a couple of good food options for her.
She agreed that they could order from there, but she was frustrated that he wanted to order from this particular restaurant when he rejected all her ideas and claimed that the food from these places would have been “‘too expensive.'”

So, she chose an option that was less than $20 total, while her husband ordered two separate entrees as well as a dessert.
This felt pretty hypocritical in her view because he was the one who added a lot of items to their order, causing the total to be so expensive.
For the next 45 minutes, they fought about this, and her husband screamed at her once more and claimed he wasn’t hungry, even though the restaurant they were going to order from was his choice.
“So, I just said, ‘Then don’t order anything, but I’m not going to starve myself just because you won’t eat. I’m going to make food for myself, then.’ So, after an open-to-close shift, close to TWO HOURS of back and forth, with ZERO give on his end, I finally threw together something that was at least edible. Not great, but it put a lump in my stomach,” she shared.
Later, her husband left the house and was gone for half an hour without telling her that he was going anywhere.
When he got back home, he seemed to be in better spirits, and he asked her if there was something he could do to make her feel better. She responded and said that there wasn’t, and she told him she was going to play a game.
After that, she and her husband went outside the house to smoke, and she realized that he’d ordered food and that it was from the restaurant he’d chosen and they’d argued about for so long.
She saw that there were two large boxes and one small box in total, which meant that he’d only ordered food for himself. Her husband ended up ordering the two main entrees and dessert that he’d originally wanted.
Understandably, she was furious, and her husband made her feel even worse when he asked her if she wanted to take a bite of his food.
After she refused, he pointed out to her how “‘pretty'” the dessert was that he’d ordered. She responded angrily and said, “‘I don’t care.'”
Up until she went to bed, she was deeply upset. Then, when she got up the next morning, she had the misfortune of discovering that her husband had left all his restaurant take-out boxes on the floor.
While she is frustrated and sick of her husband’s behavior and the way he treats her, she doesn’t want to divorce him over something that she feels could be seen as “‘trivial.'” Her hope is that they can work on things and that they can get to a better place in their marriage.
Do you think she’s wrong for feeling angry that her husband ordered food for himself?
