She Left Her Own Wedding After Her Husband Let His Brother Propose During The Reception

Last Saturday, this 29-year-old woman got married to her 27-year-old husband, Liam, and things were almost perfect.
Liam is extremely close to his older brother Ben, so she wasn’t surprised when Liam asked Ben to be his best man.
She actually likes the majority of her in-laws, but Ben has always irritated her. Ben likes to make jokes that are not funny at all, and he tries too much to be popular and cool.
Despite her dislike of Ben, she actually feels sorry for him. When the boys were little, Liam was diagnosed with autism (high-functioning), and so their parents spent a lot more energy and time on him.
Ben was brushed aside and neglected emotionally, which caused him to majorly act out in his teen years.
“He got into trouble, and this led to their parents swinging the pendulum in the opposite direction, lavishing attention on Ben,” she explained.
“Liam kept his head down and didn’t say anything. To this day, their parents are more likely to side with Ben than Liam.”
“Liam is a sweet guy, as I mentioned. Unfortunately, he is a bit of a people pleaser and doesn’t really understand social etiquette and cues very well. It has caused some problems, but I don’t regret knowing him or even marrying him.”
Four weeks back, she and Liam had dinner with Ben and their parents. She actually had a fun time, and they weren’t even talking about the wedding.

Then Ben piped up and said he was going to ask his girlfriend Melody to marry him after five years of dating.
They were all thrilled and wanted more details. Ben turned to look at Liam and stated he wanted to propose to Melody during their wedding reception.
She anxiously laughed, thinking it was another one of Ben’s terrible jokes, and she promised Ben that if he was serious, her brothers would be kicking him out of the wedding.
Ben got insulted, and then it dawned on her that he was sadly serious about stealing the spotlight at her wedding.
Liam jumped in to say that Ben could absolutely propose at their wedding, and he knew Melody would love the whole thing.
She quietly said to Liam they could discuss this more at a later time, but Liam didn’t get why she was growing upset.
Her in-laws were so happy for Ben that she knew she wouldn’t get an opportunity to explain to Liam why it was a terrible idea.
Eventually, she pulled Liam into another room and informed him that it’s poor taste to allow someone to propose or share major news at a wedding, as it takes all the attention off the groom and bride.
Liam was hurt but accepted it, so she tried to compromise by saying they can throw a special party for Ben and Melody for the proposal.
They rejoined Liam’s family, and she said to Ben that they would create a party for him to propose at, but she didn’t want him doing this at their wedding. Ben seemed to accept her compromise.
Their wedding happened last Saturday, and the day started off wonderfully. When it came time for the reception, Ben had a speech he wanted to share.
“It was full of bad jokes and weird attempts at puns, but it was overall very nice,” she said. “Part of Ben’s speech was to move around the tables, which should’ve been a red flag, but I decided not to say anything.”
“At the end of the speech. Ben stopped at Melody and proposed! I was so mad that I stormed out. Liam and my mom came to comfort me.”
Liam kept saying sorry and that everyone said it would be alright. She was so over it all that her mom drove her home, and she left her own wedding.
While Liam begged her to forgive him, she told him not to call her and walked away. She has not seen Liam since Saturday, and her family is furious with Liam and his whole family.
Liam’s family is elated for Ben and Melody, and all their social media photos lately have centered on the proposal instead of the wedding.
“I was prepared to file for annulment and move on,” she continued. “That’s until Liam sent me an email.”
“I learned that Ben and their parents applied the pressure over and over on Liam until he finally caved the night before the wedding. I asked him why he didn’t come to me, and he said, “You were so stressed, and I didn’t want to worry you!” Liam concluded with, “I want another chance. Please give me another chance!”
“Now I’m really torn. I don’t like that Liam went behind my back, thanks to family pressure. That’s not a good sign for a marriage. On the other hand? I still love him, and since he’s a horrible liar, I know he’s telling the truth. I still haven’t made up my mind about what I want to do. Is our marriage salvageable? Can we rebuild? Liam is genuine, but can I persuade him that a family should never do that to a member?”
