Marriage runs on trust, and once that trust shatters, it's almost impossible to glue all those pieces back together. For her, the cracks didn't come out from infidelity or some kind of mistake; they came from years of being deliberately misled and strung along.

She patiently waited for her husband to be on board with building a family, only to discover he was already a father and had been hiding that part of his life all along.

For nearly three years now, this 29-year-old woman has been married to her 31-year-old husband. Back when they tied the knot, she expressed to her husband her timeline for wanting to have a baby.

She thought that within five months of her marriage, she would be pregnant, but her husband told her that he did not feel ready, so she agreed to wait.

"A year passed, I brought it up again, still 'not ready.' Second year, same thing. I was disappointed but kept respecting his choice because I wanted us to be on the same page," she explained.

"Then, earlier this year, we had an unplanned intimate night. The next morning, he handed me some pills and said I should take them 'just in case.' I pretended I did, but secretly didn’t because, honestly, I was tired of waiting forever, and I wanted a child."

Exactly one month later, she learned that she was pregnant. When she shared this information with his husband, he wasn't excited or happy at all. Instead, he was standoffish and somewhat rude.

A couple of weeks after her pregnancy announcement failure, she finally figured out why her husband was not thrilled to have a baby with her.

Apparently, her husband has a five-year-old little boy from a prior relationship, and he's been keeping this kid a secret from her!

"Not only did he keep it from me our entire relationship, but he’s been financially supporting the child behind my back while lying to me about money struggles," she added.

"I felt completely betrayed. For years, he told me 'not yet, not ready' while he was already a father to someone else’s child, a fact he deliberately hid from me. To me, that broke the foundation of trust in our marriage."

"I filed for divorce. But now my family is telling me I’m overreacting and that I should forgive him, let it go, and stay married. They keep saying 'at least he didn’t cheat' and 'it’s just a child from his past, not his present.'"

She doesn't see how she can ever manage to trust her husband again after this, and she is not interested in remaining married to him, as it means she's going to be panicking about his other secrets for the remainder of her life.

A secret child isn't something you can forgive and forget. I don't think she should spend any more time waiting for the next secret to come out (as I'm sure there's more), and a divorce still sounds like the best option. She deserves a partner who is honest from the start, not someone who blindsides her with fatherhood years into a marriage.

Do you think she was wrong to file for divorce after finding out about her husband's secret son?
