On paper, some couples have seemingly fine relationships. They share responsibilities, work together toward common goals, and live civilly. But deep down, there's a lack of true care and compassion.

That's how this 24-year-old woman feels about her 26-year-old husband. They got married a few years ago and had a baby together. And after welcoming their first child, she admits that they encountered some relationship problems.

However, her husband promised to "be better," and for a while, she thought things had turned around. He started pitching in around the house and helping her without complaining. Still, she had a gut feeling that something was still "off."

"I never really explored the nagging feeling, but now, I realize that he never showed me any extra care," she explained.

"In fact, he gets upset or easily frustrated with me if I cause any extra inconvenience. Not sure how I didn't notice until now."

This tipping point (and her epiphany) occurred a few days ago, when she became quite sick. Yet, her husband failed to display any empathy and, after she eventually passed out on the floor of his office, he actually left her sleeping there while he went to bed alone.

The first day of her illness, she began suffering from vertigo and lightheadedness. Then, by the evening, she was freezing and shaking. She was still able to go about her day, though, so she didn't read too much into her symptoms. And she complained to her husband at night before they went to sleep.

Well, the next morning, she realized her sickness had worsened. Her bones were so heavy they felt like lead, but she was forced to be productive anyway.

She took care of some work tasks in the morning before getting her baby up and driving her sister to school. Next, she worked more at home, as best as she could.

"Usually, I have the energy to flip between being a mom and working, but yesterday, I just lay on the floor while my 1-year-old watched some Ms. Rachel," she recalled.

"Then, I had to pick up my sister from school, come home to make dinner, and by the time my husband came home, I felt dead on my feet."

To her, things felt like they were moving in slow motion, as if every time she moved, her body was "lagging" and couldn't keep up. She tried telling her husband that, too. However, after dinner, she was left to put away their leftovers and handle their baby's bedtime; meanwhile, he went to do some work in his office.

From there, she doesn't entirely remember what happened next. All she knows is that she went into her husband's office, where they spoke for a bit. And her next memory afterward is just waking up alone on the floor of his office.

"I felt so heavy and out of it. It took me so much effort to get up, but when I got out, all the lights were off, the kitchen was not touched, and he was in bed," she revealed.

At that moment, standing alone in her kitchen, she realized her husband didn't care about her. She also knew deep down that he wouldn't clean up the mess tomorrow, even though she had a busy day ahead.

So, in her sickly state, she proceeded to do the dishes before heading to bed. Yet, instead of checking on her once she made it upstairs, her husband just angrily snapped at her to turn off the kitchen lights.

The following day, she woke up sweating, and it was finally clear she was sick. Nonetheless, her husband refused to talk or look at her, and when she asked what was wrong, he "grumbled" about her being "confusing."

And now, his actions (or rather, lack thereof) have left her unable to look at her husband the same way.

"I realized that he has never taken care of me or done anything that was inconvenient for him. I've been sick before, and every time, it's the same thing. He gets upset at me somehow," she shared.

For instance, her husband was irritated when she didn't help out around the house after having her baby. However, he also got angry at her for fainting due to overexertion when she was only two weeks postpartum.

At the time, he screamed at her for "doing it to herself," claiming it was her fault that she wasn't taking care of her body. Yet, only a couple of days prior, he was ragging on her for not cleaning their kitchen or keeping up with their laundry.

"All these memories hit me, and I just am disgusted by him. How did I not see this? What do I even do?" she asked.

"I can't believe I took care of this man every time he got sick, and after two surgeries."

How would you feel if your spouse left you passed out on the floor like that while sick, and actually got mad at you the following morning? Does she deserve someone who truly loves and cares about her? What should she do now?
