You know about the deadbeat dad trope, but what happens when the grandfather is the only one stepping up? He's currently being banned from his own family because he refuses to pretend one of his granddaughters doesn't exist, and she's the product of his son's affair.

His son is a serial cheater who's letting his wife call the shots, and her number one rule is that the affair baby gets zero recognition.

But grandpa is holding his ground, proving that while his son might be a train wreck, his own heart has plenty of room for every child his son helped bring into the world.

This 55-year-old man is a widower with a 32-year-old son who is the worst. He knows his son isn't a gentleman, let alone a stand-up guy, as he has four children with three different women.

His son has a 14-year-old son, whom he had when he was just 18, a 2-year-old daughter, and an infant daughter with his wife, and then he also has another toddler daughter who is a product of his affair.

His son cheated on his wife while she was pregnant with their 2-year-old, so his toddlers aren't that far apart in age because of that.

As he said, he doesn't like his son, or excuse his affair, and if his son's wife had opted to divorce him over that, he would have given her his full support.

"...But she didn’t, she stayed and had yet another baby with him, she’s fine with my grandson but she wants the entire family to act like his other daughter doesn’t exist and I refuse to do that, she’s still my granddaughter affair kid or not, I visited her and her mom in the hospital when she was born," he explained.

"My son wasn’t there, they live less than 30 minutes away from me, and I visit her a couple of times a year, her mom doesn’t have a problem with it."

"I love that little girl just like I love all my grandchildren. I get her presents for her birthday and for Christmas, just like I do for everyone else."

Well, his son's wife absolutely hates that he has a relationship with his son's affair child. His son's wife thinks that because his son has to pay his affair partner child support, that's enough.

His son's wife doesn't want him to show any interest in the affair child, let alone treat her in a way that's equal to the rest of the kids.

His son's wife is punishing him by banning him from their house and preventing him from seeing the other kids. This deeply hurts his feelings, but it's not going to change his mind.

"But I still won’t just abandon my other granddaughter because it’s not her fault how she was born, she’s a pretty little doll and she lights up whenever I come visit her which is more now since I can’t visit the others, and I’ve even gotten friends with her mom’s family especially her dad, we like just chilling with our granddaughter," he continued.

He's left wondering if he's wrong for wanting to be involved in his granddaughter's life, despite her being the product of an affair.

He deserves a round of applause for standing up to his son's wife and refusing to let her bully him into doing what she wants him to do.

It sounds like his son's wife is punishing him because she's still bitter about the affair and can't do anything about that, and that's not fair.

His son made quite a mess, and his affair child shouldn't have to suffer because of that.
