We've all heard of the trophy wife, but what happens when a woman decides her boyfriend is the one who needs an upgrade in the looks department? Is it fair to demand that your boyfriend reclaim an Olympic-level physique just so you can one-up your friend?

This 32-year-old man isn't trying to boast, but back in college, he came close to making it to the Olympics for swimming. He was in extremely good shape back in his glory days, and now he still swims to stay active, but it's not like he's anywhere close to being in top shape.

But, at this point in his life, he has too much going on to dedicate to training like he used to. He has a girlfriend, whom he's been with for the last three years, and he thinks she's gorgeous.

"She is a teacher, and her hobbies are all pretty sedentary. She walks her dog twice a day, and that is her physical activity. Lately, one of her friends started dating a personal trainer," he explained.

"This guy has a six-pack and looks like Jean Claude Van Damme. If I'm being honest, his physique is better than mine was. But I wasn't training for looks. I was training for speed."

"My girlfriend has been saying that I should get back in shape so she can show me off. It was kind of annoying. I'm a professional. Once again, not bragging, just stating facts. I have a career I enjoy that allows me to enjoy life at a pretty great level."

He has the ability to take two vacations a year to various countries, and he's trying to check off all of the ones on his list. He has no debt.

He simply no longer has the bandwidth to eat 10,000 calories a day and train for 5 hours daily. He laughed when his girlfriend said he had to work harder in the gym to compete with her friend's boyfriend.

He filled her in on what it took to be in the shape he used to be, and he thought he was getting through to her about why that was no longer realistic.

"So I told her that if she wanted me to 'get back in shape,' then she had to ask well. That she needed to get to 20% body fat like runway models. I said that she was beautiful but had no stamina or strength," he added.

"She is now saying I'm [a jerk] for only considering her looks. I think that's pretty...ironic. I'm in great shape for my age and still enjoy stuff like snowboarding and surfing."

"I will also admit here that I'm not particularly good-looking. I look kind of like Walter White's old business partner. I think that if she wants that from me, it's not too much to expect the same from her."

His girlfriend is the definition of a hypocrite. It's also rude of her to expect him to get in amazing shape, but sit around herself and do nothing.

It sounds like she's envious of her friend's boyfriend and is trying to turn him into someone similar. He needs a new girlfriend!

What do you think? Is it fair to demand a peak physique from your partner if you aren't willing to hit the gym yourself?
