It's heartbreaking enough to find out that your spouse is having an affair, but it's even worse when they look at you and the children and say that they want something else that doesn't involve the family.

This 32-year-old man caught his 30-year-old wife exchanging inappropriate photos with a man she met on the internet. He did forgive his wife for this, but their lives never went back to how they were before, and normal was no longer a thing.

He then learned that his wife wants to move to another country, wipe the slate clean, and start a whole new life without him and their kids, because she hates being a mom.

"When I confronted her to find a solution, it became clear she’s having an early midlife crisis. She wants to 'reset' her life with a new identity," he explained.

"Ironically, it wasn’t even her idea to act on it. I was the one who suggested moving abroad as a potential solution to her unhappiness, and she unexpectedly loved the idea."

"Initially, we didn't talk about divorce. We discussed trying a long-distance relationship or even an open marriage. However, I’ve realized I 100% cannot live with an open arrangement."

His wife agreed to leave their kids behind with him, and he's thrilled about that, as his kids are the reason why he gets up in the mornings.

If he were to lose his children along with his wife, he's not positive he would be able to move forward. And so, here he is, perplexed over how his wife could walk away from a decade of marriage in order to start over without him.

He thought their marriage was healthy and happy, and his wife has always been nice to him. He and his wife pretty much never argue, and their kids like to brag about how amazing their family is.

"I cried my eyes out last night thinking about everything we’ve been through. We married young. She was 20, and I was 22. I think she might regret marrying so early and feels she missed out on life," he continued.

"Regardless, I hope she finds whatever she’s looking for over there. I just don't know how to process this."

I think he needs to stop trying to understand his wife's motive, because that's not going to happen, and he's making himself spiral over it.

Who knows why she wants to throw away her family? It sounds like the trash took itself out, and now he should be putting his time and energy into supporting his kids as their mom ditches them, because that's going to be tough for them to come to terms with.

He also needs to file for divorce and move on without his wife in his life. She sounds like an awful person for doing this to him and their kids.

What advice do you have for him?
