We like to believe that a solid marriage can weather any storm, but sometimes threats subtly slip in. And while some men watch their marriage slip away right in front of them and start fights, issue ultimatums, or fall apart, he did none of that.

Instead, he went on a stealth mission to save his marriage and keep the woman he loves from causing irreparable damage to their relationship. Was it a genius save, or a manipulative masterstroke?

This man has been with his wife for more than two decades, and even though they got married quite young, their relationship is holding up well.

They have kids and have managed to build one incredible life together. He loves his wife more than anyone or anything in the world.

A couple of years ago, they moved out of town due to his career. His wife managed to find employment at a company located in their new city, and she completely hated her line of work.

His wife returned home from the office despondent every single day. She often cried. He did his best to support her, and even went so far as to help her improve her resume so she could secure another job.

But then his wife got a new male coworker, and they began working closely with one another. This man related to his wife in a way he was unable to.

"They shared an office. Spent all day together. Started texting outside of work. He helped make her job bearable, and suddenly she didn't hate going to work anymore," he explained.

"I watched them get closer. At first, it seemed like a good friendship, but then it started to feel like something else. They had inside jokes. They talked constantly. She lit up when she mentioned him. I could feel the energy between them shifting into something more, even if neither of them realized it."

"I tried bringing it up a few times. She shut it down every time. He has a fiancée. Were just friends. He's the only reason I can stand this job. I didn't want to seem jealous or controlling, so I backed off. But I knew what I was seeing. I know my wife. Something was growing there."

A recruiter ended up calling him about a job offer back home. It would be double his salary and an enormous step up. Also, it would bring him and his wife back to their old friends and family members.

He would have said no, as he enjoyed the job he held in the new city, but he saw this as an opportunity for him to take his wife away from her coworker, the man she was absolutely catching feelings for.

He thought this was the perfect way to handle things without painting him as a jealous husband. He pursued the new offer and landed the job.

"She was sad to leave. I could tell. She missed him for a while after we moved. They messaged occasionally on social media, but she always showed me. Eventually, the messages stopped. Out of sight, out of mind," he said.

"A few months after we settled back home, we were sitting on the couch together. She looked up at me and said she was sorry. That she knew she wasn't being the best partner during that time."

"That she had bonded with him like a wartime buddy, but looking back, she knew it was wrong. She promised it would never happen again. She's the love of my life."

To be frank, he jumped on the new job because his wife's coworker was threatening his marriage, and it was a simple solution that prevented him from having to go nuclear. And he's not remorseful.

Sadly, I think this was just a band-aid. He didn't solve the actual problem, which is that his wife did get too close to a coworker, so who's to say it won't happen again?

He removed his wife from a situation where she was toeing the line, but since she was receptive to another man getting too cozy with her, the pattern absolutely could repeat itself.

I wouldn't characterize him and his wife as still going strong after he had to rip her away from an emotional affair (because that's what that was).

What advice do you have for him? Are you afraid his wife might get close to another coworker or man in her life?
