We’ve all heard bad excuses for lying, but claiming you had to smash a custom replica of your girlfriend with a stick to protect your frat reputation is an all-time low.

How are you supposed to ever trust a man again when he willingly joins a room full of people to violently treat a clone of your face like a party game?

This 22-year-old girl has been dating her 22-year-old boyfriend, Matt, for a year and eight months. They both attend different colleges in adjacent cities that are 45 minutes apart if you drive.

Matt belongs to a fraternity, and on Friday, it was his birthday. She and Matt went out to a restaurant to have dinner in order to celebrate.

When dinner was over, she drove back to her college, as she lives on campus. The following morning, she went on Instagram and saw a private story that one of their mutual friends had shared, so she opened it up to see what was inside.

She saw footage of Matt and all of his friends stomping and smashing a pinata, and it looked to her like his friends had thrown him a surprise party right after their dinner.

But on the very last part of the story, there was an up-close view of the pinata, and she was horrified when she realized it looked like her clone, and that’s not an exaggeration.

“From the hair color to the skin color, even down to my septum piercing. There was no doubt that it was me. I was really confused, and I screen-recorded the stories, then I messaged the friend who posted the story,” she explained.

“I asked her if that was me as the pinata, and she left me on read and removed me from the close friend’s story. This just confirmed my suspicions. The next day, I texted him and asked how his party went, and he acted confused and said he never had a party.”

“I was confused as to why he was lying to me. I told him I saw it on (mutual friends) private story, and then he completely stopped answering. An hour later, he answered and said, ‘Yeah, the guys threw me a surprise birthday party. It’s frat tradition not to talk about it, though.'”

She proceeded to question Matt about the pinata, which just so happened to be an exact replica of her. She forwarded the video along to Matt of him and all of his friends obliterating it.

Matt responded that the pinata was totally random; it wasn’t actually her. She replied that Matt had to quit lying because it was made to resemble her, and nobody could deny that.

She went on to detail how upset she was with Matt for permitting his friends to disrespect her in that way. He argued that he would be kicked out of his fraternity if he hadn’t gone along with the pinata fiasco.

“I also brought up how if his frat had thrown him a surprise party, why wasn’t I invited? I was only like 45 minutes away. I knew it wasn’t because it was only guys, because the mutual friend who had posted on the story was a girl who goes to his university,” she continued.

“And I saw in the story there were multiple girls there. He stopped answering me and hasn’t since. It’s been a day with no contact. I’m honestly considering breaking up with him over this. I’ve caught him in lies before, but this is just too much.”

“The video of him and his friends stomping the pinata was just so disturbing, and to find out that my face was on it. We were planning on moving in together after graduation, but honestly, I don’t know anymore.”

She’s left wondering if it would make her a jerk to dump Matt over the pinata.

This is so many levels of strange and alarming to me, and Matt lying to her face is the cherry on top. She’s way too young to be tied down to a man like this.

I’m team dump Matt for sure, but he’s the kind of person who deserves to be ghosted and blocked for his behavior.
