Most bridal nightmares involve bad weather or late vendors, but her wedding day belongs in a sitcom script about the absolute worst in-laws imaginable.
This woman got married close to a decade ago, and she knows that what happened on the happiest day of her life sounds like she made it all up, because it’s that crazy.
Now, right before she tied the knot, her husband’s stepmom came to visit her at work one day. They got around to discussing the wedding, and she told her that she had found out her mother-in-law (her husband’s mom) said something about potentially wearing white.
“I laughed and said, ‘Well, white is usually for the bride,’ and my husband’s stepmum agreed completely. I asked what color she’d be wearing because my mum didn’t want to clash, and she told me teal. Great. No issues,” she explained.
It was strange that both her mother-in-law and her husband’s stepmom thought it was appropriate to wear white to her wedding, but she thought she had resolved all of that with them.
One day before her wedding, her husband’s brother mentioned that his daughter had broken up with her boyfriend, so that guy was no longer going to be her plus-one.
Her husband’s brother then wanted to know if his daughter was allowed to invite a friend along, and she didn’t have a problem with that at all and rearranged the seating.
But she was unable to create a place card with the friend’s name on it, since they had been custom-ordered months in advance, which was awkward.
On the morning of her wedding, the bridal party headed to the venue first, leaving behind her, her dad, and the flower girl to wait for their ride.

Her dad began panicking, and when she arrived at the venue, she noticed that she had forgotten her bouquet. The ceremony itself went off without a hitch, though.
When the ceremony was over, and they got in the car to head to the reception, their driver totally got lost. She just started laughing, because she wasn’t sure what else there was to do about it.
“We finally arrive, and our friend who made the wedding cake tells me one of the tiers cracked during transport. Again, not the end of the world. We decide to cut up the cracked tier for guests and keep the other two for photos,” she added.
“I FINALLY get a drink in my hand when my SIL comes over and says: ‘Have you seen what your husband’s stepmum is wearing?’ I turn around, and she is dressed head to toe in white. White dress. White jacket. White bag. White hat.”
“And my first response was literally: ‘Well…that’s not teal.’ But somehow that still wasn’t the craziest part of the day. My FIL then apparently decided to fake a stroke because his other son, who barely has anything to do with him, was finally giving him some attention.”
Her father-in-law was theatrically screaming his son’s name, and somebody called him an ambulance. Her husband finally yelled at his dad that he was wrecking his wedding because his son decided to pay him some attention.
Her father-in-law and her husband’s stepmom then left in the ambulance prior to the reception even beginning. She is still married to her husband, so that’s the highlight of her story.
Oh, and her husband no longer speaks to his stepmom and is low contact with his dad after the stunts they pulled at the wedding.
Well, I don’t think any bride anticipates their in-laws turning their wedding day into a spectacle, and this is truly one of the most insane things I’ve ever heard of!
What do you think of that?
