I’m just as obsessed as the next gamer when it comes to playing games on any platform, whether it be the PC, X-box 360 or Wii. These days you probably couldn’t pry away the guitar controller from Guitar Hero 2 out of my cold dead hands. Literally – I believe my wrists have gone numb already. But this story from AOL News was to outrageous and horrendous not to blog about, even if it does make me question my obsessive tendencies. A couple in Reno, Nevada have been accused of starving their 2 young children because they were obsessed with the on-line video game “Dungeons and Dragons.” At least it wasn’t World of Warcraft. All jokes aside this was a heinous act that left a 22 month old boy and 11 month old little girl near death and starvation. And horrifyingly, the parents did have food to feed them but didn’t get around to it because they were too “busy” playing video games. As of now the kids are in foster care and the parents face several counts of child abuse. All I can say is that yes video games can transport you to a place out of reality but it doesn’t mean you are supposed to lose your mind completely.
