Eventbrite is looking to make sales easier for small-timers with their new card reader dongle. The At the Door Credit Card Reader is aimed towards event promoters and ticket sales, but it would be useful for any small business trying to streamline payment processing, saving time and money in the process.
The dongle itself is just a credit card reader that attaches to the iPad’s 30-pin connector. The accompanying Eventbrite app provides event planning tools, allowing users to sell tickets, track event attendees, and process payments. Social media is also integrated, to help with promoting events. There’s no additional fee paid to Eventbrite for payments processed, and the app is free. The app can also sync up with compatible wireless printers for receipts, but those are sold separately.
The Eventbrite At the Door Credit Card Reader dongle is $10, but with a purchase Eventbrite will give back a $10 credit to use on their site. The developers are touting this as a competitor to Ticketmaster/LiveNation and PayPal, which is great, because consumers desperately need more competition gunning for those two companies. With the $10 credit making the whole set-up free, Eventbrite is gunning pretty hard for early adopters. Here’s hoping they find success.
