TYLT’s Energi series is their latest series of battery packs with built in charging cables to connect to your phone. But from amongst this new lineup, their Energi 3K might just be the biggest crowd pleaser since it offers two full smartphone charges, in a compact body.
The Energi 3K is available with a built-in lightning cable or microUSB cable. We tested the Lightning cable model. In addition to a dedicated lightning cable, the device also ports a universal USB port so that you can plug in just about any device to charge. And despite being relatively compact, it can also charge two devices simultaneously. Speaking of being compact, the Energi 3K+ measures 14.3mm x 65mm x 103mm, which makes it a bit shorter than the iPhone.
The pack holds a capacity of 3,000mAh which is enough to fully charge the iPhone 5S two times. The battery takes about 3 to 4 hours to fully charge. Keeping its capacity in mind, the Energi 3K+ is the kind of battery pack that you want to keep in your bag throughout the day, and the two charges should keep you powered throughout the day, even with heavy smartphone use. That said, for trips, and for those looking to often share their battery pack with others, we recommend checking out other battery packs in the series which offer a higher capacity – such as the Energi 5K+ or Energi 10k.
Overall, the build quality of the Energi 3k+ seems very solid, and we like that it offers a slim form factor while also offering a built in dedicated lightning cable. TYLT’s Energi 3K+ retails for $69.99 and is available in a choice of black/blue, black/red or black/gray.
The Good: Solid build quality – seems like it will wear well over time, color choices, comes with built-in charging cable, slim and relatively compact design
The Bad: Very pricey for a capacity of 3,000 mAh
