Her Best Friend Asked Her To Be The Maid Of Honor But She Was So Upset At The Wedding She Left Without Toasting The Bride Or Giving Her Speech

A 26-year-old woman has a 27-year-old best friend named Tiffany, and they’ve been close since they were back in middle school together.

As she and Tiffany grew up together, they frequently chatted about what their weddings would look like and how they would always want the other one to be involved.

Well, in the Spring of 2019, Tiffany got engaged and quickly asked her to be her maid of honor.

She was completely thrilled to accept the maid of honor roll, and Tiffany’s wedding happened this month.

The year after Tiffany got engaged, they did not spend a lot of time together at all due to the pandemic, so they got together on video calls to discuss wedding details.

On their video calls, Tiffany kept bringing up her other friend Xenia. She never had been introduced to Xenia, and Tiffany had met Xenia in college.

Unfortunately, Tiffany started getting snippy with her over certain wedding details. For example, if she suggested a bridesmaid dress color, Tiffany nixed it because Xenia already wanted to have a dress in that color.

When they talked about a wine list, Tiffany insisted Xenia already pointed out a better wine for them to go with.

Well, then Tiffany’s wedding day arrives, January 28th, and she’s shocked to see that a woman is walking Tiffany down the aisle to give her away.

The woman gets Tiffany to the end of the aisle, leans in to give her a kiss on the forehead, and walks over to stand directly in front of where she was.

She tried not to make a huge deal out of this incident, and the entire time she’s left wondering who on earth this woman is.

She later learned that this random woman is none other than Xenia.

After the ceremony wrapped up, they all started taking photos. The entire time, Xenia positioned herself directly between her and Tiffany.

When that wasn’t happening, Xenia and Tiffany went off alone to snap photos with just the two of them and none of the other family members or women in the bridal party.

If she wasn’t already feeling left out of her best friend’s wedding at that point, she sure was when the reception rolled around.

She was supposed to give an 8-minute long speech at the reception, though Tiffany’s mom rushed over to her to say she needed to cut her speech time in half.

The next thing she knew, Xenia walked onto the stage that had been set up for their speeches and starts talking about how she “was honored” to be the one to give Tiffany away and walk her down the aisle.

Xenia kept going on about how Tiffany was her best friend.

“Then Tiffany makes a speech and says she’s so happy to have her platonic soul mate give her away and that she’s never been happier,” she explained.

“By now I’m completely confused and ask our friends what the hell is going on. They tell me to be quiet and don’t make a scene but I’m beyond destroyed at the situation.”

“I pull Tiffany aside and ask why she didn’t ask me to walk down the aisle with her and she tells me she felt bad and didn’t wanna take my MOH role away even though she wanted to give it to Xenia.”

“She said that Xenia has been a better friend to her and brought up a petty situation that happened at her 26th birthday.”

Tiffany then acknowledged that yes, Xenia had not been a part of her life as much as she had, though she considered Xenia to be “a better friend” than her.

That’s such a hurtful and horrible thing to have anyone say to you, of course, and this woman promptly told Tiffany she was leaving the wedding.

And so, she did. She immediately exited Tiffany’s wedding, and she did not make a toast to the bride or give the speech that she was supposed to.

In the days after Tiffany’s wedding, all of their mutual friends along with Tiffany’s family members have been sending her hateful texts accusing her of being egotistical and causing an uproar at the wedding.

Meanwhile, Tiffany herself has not tried to speak to her or say sorry for her behavior. When she brought this detail up to her friends, they insisted this only proved Xenia is better to Tiffany than she is as a friend.

She feels that nobody is treating her fairly here, and she’s wondering if it was bad of her to walk out of Tiffany’s wedding.

Do you think she was justified in leaving Tiffany’s wedding, or should she have sucked it up and stayed to give her toast and speech? You can read the original post on Reddit here.
