This Tiny 97-Square-Foot Paris Apartment Makes NYC Renters Seem Like They Are Living Large

Last year, an American TikToker who goes by the name of @Shump_ traveled to Paris, France, to become an au pair.
Since making the move abroad, the woman– whose real name has not been revealed– has chronicled her experiences sightseeing and enjoying the nightlife on the social media platform.
But, a recent video showing off her apartment has gone ultra-viral.
And if you think New York City rentals are notorious for being small, just wait until you see this tiny, ninety-seven-square-foot Parisian pad.
The woman’s TikTok was shot from her perspective as she walked through the front door and throughout the apartment.
Upon entering the apartment, you are immediately met with a sink and wall mirror facing the door.
So, whether you are coming back from a long day at work or an evening filled with partying, you must be prepared to face your own reflection.
Afterward, there is a short entryway to the left that leads to the woman’s main bedroom area. On one wall is the TikToker’s “kitchen area,”– which resembles a hotel kitchenette more than anything.
“I have a little stove, a kettle, and a fridge, but that’s about it. I just have dishes stored here [the cabinets],” the woman narrated.

To the right of the kitchen area is her only closet, which is thankfully equipped with storage shelves.
Finally, the rest of the space is mostly taken up by her twin-sized bed and desk. And don’t worry, there is a shower and toilet– they are just located behind bathroom stall-resembling doors.
Still, the TikToker shared that despite its size, the apartment feels like home.
“It’s small, but I LOVE it,” the woman said.
She even decorated the walls with artwork, put up photo collages, added teal-colored curtains, and bought plants to tie in some greenery. Plus, from the apartment, the woman is able to spot the Eiffel Tower in the distance.

Nonetheless, the TikTok community was shocked by how teeny the apartment was. The video gained over 3.1 million views, two hundred and seventy-three thousand likes, and over three thousand comments.
“Harry Potter had more space under the stairs,” joked one user.
“I feel like I could not breathe while watching this video,” commented a second user.
“This is the exact size of my brain capacity,” quipped a third.
But, other viewers believe the room is perfect for a single person just trying to travel abroad and make ends meet.
“This is so cute for a single young lady,” said one supportive user.
“Home is what you make it. It is your peace at the end of the day!” agreed another.
Countless followers are still dying to learn more about the apartment– such as how much rent costs each month. But, the woman has yet to reveal the space’s going rate.
