This Professional Body Piercer Ranked Her Most Painful Piercings From Least To Worst, And The List Might Surprise You
Tattoos and piercings can be a terrific way to express yourself and level up your look. But, many people who can imagine themselves with the bodily accessories hold off because of just one fear factor: pain.
Thankfully, one woman named Charlotte, who is a piercing studio owner and professional body piercer from the UK, recently ranked what piercings hurt the least to the most on her TikTok account @SolsticePiercing.
Before we dive into that, though, it is crucial to note an important disclaimer Charlotte shared at the start of her video.
“Everyone feels things so differently, and everyone’s pain tolerance is very different,” she said.
So, keep in mind that what Charlotte believes hurts the least or most may very well vary from your own experience.
Charlotte’s Piercing Pain Scale
Most people have their earlobes pierced, and many even received this piercing as a child. So, it is probably not shocking that Charlotte believes her lobe piercings were the least painful.
Interestingly, though, her second least painful piercing was her septum. Septum piercings can consist of either a bar or ring that goes through the thin layer of skin located between your nostrils.

And these piercings take about two to three months to heal, which may sound like a long time. However, this is actually relatively quick due to the fact that the body has to reconstruct less tissue in that region.
So, next up on Charlotte’s pain scale is her bridge piercing– which is a rod that goes between the bridge of your nose at eye level.
“My bridge piercing was honestly one of the easiest. It just felt a bit weird. But, I did have a bit of bruising, and the bruising was more tender than anything else,” she explained.
And even though the bruising did travel down the base of Charlotte’s nose a bit, she did reveal that it cleared up within about a week. So, her bridge was not uncomfortable enough to earn itself a higher place on the pain scale.
Instead, Charlotte’s next most painful piercing might be a bit surprising– her nostril piercing. Aside from earlobes, this is another one of the most popular piercings people seek out. However, Charlotte did not like how sharp the piercing felt and how it made her eyes water. Understandable.
Next, Charlotte shared how her more intricate ear piercings were honestly some of the most painful– including the tragus, conch, and flat.
“They were spicy. Very spicy. I don’t like the feel of them, and I don’t like them being done because I’m a baby,” she said.
And finally, Charlotte’s most excruciating piercing was her daith– which goes through the smallest fold of cartilage in your ear.
“I love my daith piercing now; I absolutely love it. It does not hurt, and I have not had any problems with it,” she began.
“But oh baby, oh baby, that was sharp and spicy. So spicy.”
And like Charlotte said at the beginning of her video, her rankings are totally subjective to her own experience. Nonetheless, many TikTok commenters agreed that daith piercings are some of the most excruciating.
“I love my daith so much, but, my god, I have never felt pain like it! I could hear the needle going through, and it made me pass out,” wrote one user. Yikes!
“My high nostrils were good (definitely had weeping eyes), but my daith… yup, it is spicy,” commented a second user.
If you have a lot of piercings, do you agree with Charlotte’s rankings? If not, what was your most painful?
