He Made His Girlfriend Pay For Their Dinner Date, And She Hasn’t Responded To Any Of His Texts Since

This 26-year-old guy has been dating a 23-year-old woman named Evelyn for about three months now. And they have only known each other for five months in total.
At the beginning of their relationship, though, they used to go out a lot. After all, neither of them had any kids or other responsibilities to take care of after work. So, they were free much of the time.
And for their first few dates, they actually both shared the bill– even though he apparently has a better job than his girlfriend.
“She makes a bit above minimum wage,” he explained.
Eventually, though, he did start paying for both of their meals and any entertainment costs whenever they went out.
And honestly, he claimed he didn’t mind because he knew his girlfriend sometimes struggled with money.
But, this past week, his brother’s car broke down. And since his brother only gets paid on a monthly basis, he got asked to lend his brother some money. Then, his brother said he would get paid back later when the paycheck came in.
He was fine with that, too, since he gets paid bi-weekly and had some extra cash. So, he gladly lent his brother the funds and knew he would be able to cover all his necessities until his next paycheck.
The only thing he didn’t have a lot of money to spend on, though, was dates. And apparently, his girlfriend was fully aware of that.

Still, she wound up inviting him out to see a movie before grabbing dinner. So, he opted to pay for both the movie tickets and their snacks.
Once the movie ended, though, his girlfriend picked out a restaurant for them to eat at. And after the bill arrived, he wound up asking her to pay since he had already spent all of his money at the movie.
“I didn’t have enough to pay for dinner, too,” he recalled.
Anyway, his girlfriend did end up paying for their meals. However, she was apparently pretty upset. And once they got back to the car, she wound up asking him what had happened and why he couldn’t afford to pay.
At that point, he re-explained the whole situation with his brother’s car, and his girlfriend admitted to forgetting about how he lent out money. But his girlfriend also pointed out how he knew she struggled financially. So, she believed he shouldn’t have allowed her to pick out such an expensive restaurant if he knew he wasn’t going to pay.
Anyway, after they had that conversation, he eventually dropped his girlfriend off back at her house. And ever since then, she has not responded to any of his texts.
So, he is starting to feel pretty bad because he did know that his girlfriend was on a tight budget. Due to that, he’s been left wondering whether he should have told his girlfriend she had to pay for their date beforehand rather than blindsiding her.
Was his girlfriend really blindsided if she was previously told about his money situation with his brother? Since she asked him out for dinner and a movie, does that imply the outing would be her treat? Regardless, would it have been nice for him to remind his girlfriend she’d be paying on the day of their date? What would you have done?
