Sunny Jay Sramek was born in McCook, Nebraska, on February 23, 2001. During her childhood, she lived in Trenton, Nebraska, and went on to attend McCook High School.

Then, by the time Sunny turned 18-years-old, she resided at her mother’s home and was working to obtain her GED.

But in April 2019, everything changed for the teen after she disappeared during a trip to Omaha, Nebraska.

Sunny was last spotted on April 20 of that year– the day she departed from Trenton with a 42-year-old male acquaintance named Floyd.

It remains unclear how exactly the pair knew each other. However, Sunny left with Floyd in his car, a white 2004 Ford Explorer with Iowa license plate number HGJ341, and they were reportedly traveling to Omaha.

Once in Omaha– which is approximately 300 miles away from Sunny’s home– she was supposed to accompany Floyd while he picked up his nieces.

So, after heading out for the road trip on the morning of April 20, Sunny called to check in at home– speaking with her mother at about 12:45 p.m.

At that time, she detailed how they had made it to Holdrege, Nebraska, and the trip had been going fine. Sunny also told her mom that she planned to arrive back home that night.

But the evening came and went, and she never returned home. Sunny has never been seen or heard from again.

The following day, Sunny’s mother was unable to get in contact with her daughter. So, she ultimately went to Hitchcock County Sheriff’s office to file a missing person report on April 21, 2019.

Authorities then launched an investigation, and it was discovered that Floyd had spoken to Sunny’s mother on April 20.

During that phone call, Floyd explained how he and Sunny had visited the Prairie Flower Casino located in Carter Lake, Iowa– staying there from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

However, Sunny was forced to wait in Floyd’s truck outside the casino since the minimum casino gambling age in Iowa was 21.

So, Floyd alleged that after he got back to his car around midnight, Sunny just was not there.

Later, though, Floyd did change his story– claiming to have stopped at an unknown Omaha gas station to fuel his car.

Then, he allegedly went inside the station to pay for his gas and found Sunny had vanished upon returning to the vehicle.

Floyd does have a criminal record in Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa. He was convicted of possession of a deadly weapon, the sale and possession of drugs, theft, battery, and other offenses.

Investigators suspect that foul play was involved in Sunny’s case. However, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance have remained unclear, and no person of interest or suspect has been publicly named.

So, Sunny’s family has continued searching for answers. Online, they created a Facebook group entitled “Find Sunny Sramek” to help raise awareness of her case.

At the time she vanished, Sunny was five foot seven, weighed 183 pounds, and had brown hair and blue eyes. She had a tattoo on her right shoulder of a feather and the word “FLY,” as well as nose and ear piercings.

Sunny also had various scars– including a small square-shaped scar on her forehead, chicken pox scarring on her face, and shin and ankle scars from a biking accident.

She was last seen wearing denim shorts and a black tank top. Sunny was also carrying a pair of jeans and a hooded sweatshirt with her. She would be 22-years-old today.

If you have any information regarding Sunny’s disappearance or whereabouts, you are urged to contact the Hitchcock County Sheriff’s Office at (308) 334-5444.
