Using Tarot cards has become a much more common practice over the last few years.

If you don’t know what Tarot cards are, they’re a deck of 78 cards with different symbols, energies, and meanings that people use to make predictions for their life, seek advice, or tell stories. Tarot cards began being read with divinatory meanings during the 1700s.

Tarot cards are becoming more accessible and easier to read at home because of online resources that will give you detailed descriptions of how to give yourself a reading and what each card means.

One exciting thing you can do with Tarot cards is figure out your birth card, a Tarot card associated with your birthday.

Cosmic Psyche (@cosmic_psyche_) teaches her users about all things related to Tarot and spirituality. She gave a tutorial on finding your Tarot birth card, which fascinated users.

“Did you know that you have a special Tarot card assigned to you at birth?” she asks her viewers.

“Today, I’m gonna show you how to figure out your birth card. Some of you have multiple cards assigned to you, so let’s get right into it.”

Figuring out your Tarot birth card involves some math but don’t worry, it’s nothing like the complicated algebra you had to take in high school.

You start by adding up the digits of your birthday, which are separated into four groups – the month, the day, the first half of the year, and the second half of the year.

For instance, using Cosmic Psyche’s example of the birthday April 21st, 1999, the equation would be 4 + 21 + 19 + 99.

Next, you add those numbers together. In this example, the sum is 143.

“If the sum comes out to three digits, combine the two first numbers and add the third,” explains Cosmic Psyche.

So in this example, the following equation would look like this: 14 + 3 = 17.

“This is your first birth card, only if the sum is under 21 because there’s only 21 Major Arcana cards,” explains Cosmic Psyche.

To get your second birth card, if you have one, you’d add up the two numbers that make up your previous sum. In this case, we’d add 1 + 7 to get 8.

In Cosmic Psyche’s example, Tarot card #17 is the Star, and Tarot card #8 is the Strength card.

“These cards can tell you about major themes in your life as well as skills that you need to unlock,” she says.

If your original birthday sum came out to be a two-digit number like 92, for example, you would add those two numbers, 9 + 2, and get 11. Then, you’d add those two numbers, 1 + 1, to get 2. This means that Tarot card #11, Justice, is your first birth card, and Tarot card #2, The High Priestess, is your second birth card.

The formula may take some getting used to, but there are even more sources online to help you figure out your assigned Tarot birth card. Try it out and read a description of your birth cards – something may resonate with you!
